500cc hydros at Denton, now that's what I'm talking about

                Yes, you could turn them
                Yes, you pulled the pipe
and YES, it was a hell of a lot of fun
I always thought growing up would be cool, I was wrong!

                  yeah 500ccH at Denton!

Don't recall the name, but he was from Atlanta with a black 500ccH boat and black team uniforms. He strolled out on the dock and struck up a converstaion with my son Jeff which went something like this . . .

Atlanta: "Boy, ah unnerstan we gonna register in that thar clubhouse, but where we gonna race?"

                  Jeff: "Right here." *evil grin*

Atlanta: (eyebrows scrunched in rebuke) "Boy, you're pulling mah laig, now where we gonna race?"

Jeff: (pointing) Start clock goes there, first turn up by that far bridge, second turn right out here. It's kinda narrow."

Atlanta: (stunned look - staggers off dock)

He raced and had a great time, came back the following year.

                    Galletta

That would have been Robert Galletta. All black shirts, pants, trailer and boats. I remember him trying to get that 500cc opened up at Denton.

How many people did it take to pick up Tims boat and put it in the water?

                          Tim's boat was a lightwieght . . .

compared to the 500 (or was it 700?) boat from West Virginia that me'n Dave Augustine hefted at Zanesville. The owner/driver had a nice rig, built by an OPC tunnel builder. Mistake. I swear that thang was carved out of a solid white ash log. I believe it could have survived a direct hit from an anti-tank rocket. After that heat neither me or Dave could stand up straight - ouchyback. I had to swallow several pain pills just to climb in my truck for the trip home, as a passenger, no driving while zonked fer me.

MJR got it - Robert Galleta. Last time I saw him race was at Depue. I seem to recall he flipped in the first turn. In the muddy first turn :-(

'93? I know you guys were there, but Tim's boat has an Australian flag on it. I guess that was left over from the 500cc WC held at Lakeland, FL on the October 9/10 of '93. What month was Denton?

Boat weight, were y'all lifting the boat with Tim in it? Everybody wants a lightweight boat that last forever That boat was probably a retired "Proprider"
