    Ken Warby

I was fortunate enough to meet Ken Warby at the APBA convention in Washington DC. I think it was 1979. He is a very interesting, determined and resourceful man. He didn't listen to all the people who told him he couldn't do what others with big budgets couldn't do. He shrugged them off and did it.

I was able to have a long conversation with him because everyone else left the room for one with a TV. That was the night when everybody found out who shot JR.

I met this guy at my work (Nigel Macknight) as he did a promo tour cuz we use the same cad software his team is using to design the boat.

I didn't like him, but still got my pic taken with him and his autograph on a pic. He'd never even raced or been in a real boat before. Took a ride or two in an offshore boat or something. I know that has nothing to do with it... but it was like his heart wasn't there.

Ken Warby has my cheers. That movie they made about him was great.
