Making each part exactly identical to all others in balance weight and size, enough to make all "blueprinting" not worth while would probably double the price of the motors because of labor costs alone. The only way I can see around most of that would be some easy to measure features like carb size, rotarty valve timing and igntion timing be the limiting factor beyond any and all other finishing work that would be simular to blueprinting. Basically over build the motor and then choke it. It could be a very good scheme .... they might run forever and be very easy to work on.

Mercury Outboard Motors was the first company to sponsor a NASCAR team.
Kiekhaefer's cheif engineer said working for Kiekhaefer during those years was like working for a NASCAR team that just happened to be funded by an outboard factory. They were so afraid of being caught not working on the race cars that the development of the first 6 cylinder Merc was done while Kiekhaefer was not on the property. In 1956 and 57 Mercury sponsored cars won 80% of the races they entered.

I saw the new hotrod crankcase casting this past weekend along with the new carb, flywheel and ing system the case is much stronger then the old case and the carb should be alot easier to tune. The flywheel is more compact then the old OMC but uses the same OMC ing just updated to use one duel coil. Will know more next week when I take Rons new boat down to him.

I'm not sure if this would be bad business or not, but any chance you could get some pictures of the new parts Hot Rod is making or the new Hot Rod business in general and post them here on Hydro Racer?

Joe Eddie Runne has all the new parts and will check with Ron to maybe make an up date as to what is going on with the Hotrod. The case has more material around the throw area where they usually crack and there is a small cast in rib that runs down the front of the case. Other then that it looks like the old case and may have added 6 oz to the motor but will ba alot more durable.
