  • Need info on boat kits

Hey guys I have been out of the racing for about 20 years. Boy I'm getting old. I have a mid to late 70's Yamato alky. That I am looking to fix up(needs a new piston and sleave any one have one ) and get a boat for. Are they still running this class? I believe called C pro? I need info on who sells boat kits, Pictures and your thoughts on different builders. Links to web pages or phone #'s would be great. Leads to good used boats would aslo be great.

    Thanks,
    Lights

The good news is that the class is still going, the bad is that it is a capsule class, numbers are down and your piston port Yamato RC probably wont push a capsule boat Check with Gryzkewicz(sp) up your way about what going on.

The Title Series will be in Depue in june, Constantine in late july and in Depue again at the end of july.

A new generation VRP or Rossi 350 are probably faster than the Yamato. I've got a garage full of "vintage" pro engines. A couple were national contenders at one time, now they just bask in the light of the glory days.

Boat plans, Marc Johnson, AKA Roper comes to mind. Jim Apel, boats and plans? There are many more, hopefully someone will give facts.

Hi Art are you trying to be sly. I think I think your a boat builder. Could you email me phone # and some photos so we could talk boats?

I realy did not want to find out that they are a capsule class now. No I do not think that old Yamato could push one of those capsules to be competitive. Anyone now were there is a "vintage" hydro for a 350? I just want to ply with that old Yamato? Oh well looks like I'm looking to get into a C hydro now.

        Thanks,

If your Yamato is a 350, then you will nor need a capsule boat.

You only need capsules for 500, 700, & 1100 hydro. The 350 will not need one.

So now you can go back to looking for a boat.

OK, I know were to get the parts for the Yamato. Now I just need to find a good used boat or build one.

there are a number of places for kits, Hemp (B&H) hydros has kits, Sorenson, Dave Scott, you can also get plans from Fralick Boats, they have a great line of hulls. I also beleive there is another builder on the home page here as well that does kits. Just depends what you want.

This Pugh is Eric, the youngest son(now an old man) and lead internet racer of the family. Gary puts the boats together, shop # is 865-693-8840. He's pretty busy with tunnels and a few hydro orders.

Sorry if I confused things with the capsule remark, but you said "C PRO" C became 500cc over time. 350cc was "B".

From a realist point of view, dont torture yourself with the Yamato. We used those, we had the factory "tec" engines and they had a powerband from 11,250 to 11,452 rpm's. They also stopped for no reason. Boy was that a great day when we picked up the 1984 König VB. Polish it up nice and put it on a stand.

Please, no one jump on me for trying to discourage someone trying to get re-involved, I lived Yamato to the core. It's just better to start with a little newer equipment.

Eric, thanks for the heads up on the Yanato, But it's all I have to work with now becouse of family needs.Three under eight kind of drain the bank. I found out its a RB5. I am picking it up tonight. The price was right "Free"

If you ever hear of a used one let me know.

                        Thanks,
