Best unexpecded prize
In my 2nd year of racing 25ssh in Region 5 with helmet X gone against lots of top drivers like Jeff Hutchins, Bowerman, Rawson, Bentz, ... I unexpectedly won 1975 25ssh High Points and a patch. What made this even more unexpected, I was running my home built Hall Kelly Wetback of the mid 1950's era. Thanks to Harry Pinner and Marshall Eldridge Jr. for all their great help."Keep Move'n" life is catching up!

Merc Challenge.............
The Balfour diamond studded Merc Challenge World Championship Series ring was very cool......
In 1980 BSOA gave out fast qualifier awards. I got a wall clock with a boat on it that still works great and hangs in the garage!
But Jimmy Warren is right. The beer mug is a gift that just keeps on giving and giving!

at a ioa race in the 90s I was driving aggressive and didn't get thrown out for it so in the morning at the sunday drivers meeting they gave me a old broken propeller on a rope to hang around my neck.they shamed me into driving a little nicer

Best Prize?
As usual, I have many answers:
In 1955, on live TV we had a "Father and Son" race. My dad passed Ron Loomis's dad on the last corner to win a 24 cup coffee pot. SoCal boat racers drank coffee out of that pot for 20 years.
When I won the C and D Runabout Marathon Nationals in 1966, Elgin Gates, who had owned the Mercury Distributorship in SoCal, and was a big game hunter. Donated African gold coins to all the winner. (I later sold both sets for about $4,000).
I won a lot at Lake Havasu, 1967, and two lots at Golden Shores in 1969 and 1970. All lots were valued at $4,500. But I sold mine for $9,000 each and carried the paper at 9% interest.
I won a set of Proto Tools for being th most popular driver of Speed Boat Rodeo, 1955, and I won three Greuen watches, valued in those days at $250 (Two weeks salary for my dad, in those days).
In 1966, I won D Runabout and won a trophy made of agate.
I won the John Ward Trophy Race in 1967 and the trophy is still in Belgium, though I did visit it once.
Havasu 1967...$8,500 in cash for twin engine winner. Topock, 1970: $12,000 in 20 dollar bills...Oh, we weren't supposed to mention CASH!
