        As Posted:

Dave Harris of our new insurance company Specialty Insurance Group (SIG), presented information about our insurance waivers. Highlights:

        1) Release agreement has been court-tested. Use our form not anyone else's.
        2) Requires participants to inspect the restricted area including the race course and report unsafe issues to race officials.
        3) Releases for minors are enforceable in some states.
        4) Send contracts or release required by contractors (like crane company) to SIG for review so we can know if we have coverage for any liability assumed.
        5) Incidents reports are important in order to get accurate FRESH information. Many states allow lawsuits to be filed up to 2 years later when memories have faded. Reports should be completed immediately.

Testing on Friday's of a two day insurance are included in the premium. Per weekend the premiums did go down, saving clubs. Not sure specifics yet. I believe the 2014 insurance rates are up on the APBA site. The rates ARE up on the resource tab on the APBA website. You can compare between last year and this year. Stock races last year were $2,488 for a 2 day race, 2014 will be $2,310.

Please let's keep these all under the main thread of the National Meeting. Seems a bit unreasonable to start a new "go to the APBA social site" for every single topic. thank you!

Additional Dialogue from the Social Site!

A Class Parity committee was appointed to achieve parity between parity among all 3 A engines.

2017 Nationals in Grass Lake. Not with the mods.

              Members at SORC Meetings

John Runne, Rich Runne, Don Allen, TJ Johnston, Mark Kurz, Brian Trolian, Ed Hearn, Steve Wilde, Dave Anderson, Kyle Bahl, Jeff Conant. Absent: Charlie Gonyea & Doug Pearsall.

Newer bigger dimension for #2 cylinder in the Tohatsu D engine since this cylinder has a bigger combustion chamber than the #1 & #2 cylinders.

B class parity committee formed (committee includes entire SORC) and B Hot rod balanced cranks did not pass

SORC approved appointment of a B Class Parity Committee to achieve parity in the B classes between the 20 CID Sidewinder and the 15 CID Hot Rod

SORC approved the MOD pickle fork rule except that all boats must comply (Grand fathering is not permitted).

A class larger bore of 40" over oversize, including oversized piston and rings. passed

Proposal to balance Hot Rod cranks failed.

The new Yamato tower housing will be the only legal tower housing for the 302SSH class for the 2015 racing season. Ric Montoya will provide an even trade for the older towers.

A class larger bore of 40" over oversize, including oversized piston and rings. passed

Kyle...........i assume this is for the OMC 15 engine??

What make and part number are now legal at 40 over for the omc?? I have 2 motors that need rebuilt

Weisco 40 overs are legal. Contact TJ as hell be placing a large order.

Craig Dewald Award created for overall Marathon High Point Champion.

SORC removed the prohibition on championships, high points, and records for classic classes and established Classic A Class with Mercury engines, B Classes with Mercury engines, 25SS with the 22 CID engines, C Classes with Mercury engines, D Classes with Mercury & Martin engines and 35SS classes with Mercury engines. These classes would be eligible for the Hall of Champions.

The classic classes are now eligible for high points, records and championships.

All classic classes are eligible for high points, records, and championships, BUT not HOC. Hopefully HOC can be added at a later year.

The MORC approved sending the approval of the Tohatsu in the 750 class to the class members by ballot.

In the event the members do not approve this the Tohatsu would be a legal prototype engine in 750.

                        Thankyou stock outboard commissioners!

I would like to take a moment and thank all the people who donated both time off work and their hard earned money to represent us (Stock Outboard) at Reno as commissioners. Having also served 2 terms myself in the past, it can be a thankless job.

I don't know all the details yet but from the info posted here, it looks like this year they took a hard look at where we are at and where we want to be in the future to stay alive as an organization both nationally, but more importantly locally!

The option for the return of the Classic classes at races with national awards is a great idea. Costs us nothing and could get people on the water and raise money for clubs.

The creation of the SORC Competition Committees is a wonderful and needed aspect at this time. This will set the stage to move forward into the future.

The A class adjustments to 1" transom height for the OMC and Merc will allow the owners of these rigs a chance to compete again with out sacrificing the new found performance of the Sidewinder 15S. Should be a win/win for everyone! Hopefully the other 3 Class Committees can also make some adjustments which are fair to all in the near future.

I for one, am excited about returning to racing in ASR in Stock Outboard. I was planning to return this year and switch to 200ccmr in Modified Outboard exclusively. APBA needs both of these classes to survive and grow in the future as well as their hydro counterparts.

I am sure there are many others out there who also are thinking the same thing!!!

                          morc minutes.?

is there a forum to read the actual minutes of the conversations between the commissioners present? I am interested in the thought or lack of thought with the tohatsu, gaining entrance into the 750 class as a prototype and possibly a legal motor???

Tohatsu is already a probationary 750 motor. Now it will voted on by the drivers to become a legal engine.

Doubt there will be minutes of entire conversations between the morc members. But there was lots of conversation and debate....

                                Tohatsu spec

I just read this on the APBA site. Newer bigger dimension for No 2 cylinder in the Tohatsu D engine since this cylinder has a bigger combustion chamber than the #1 & #2 cylinders. Do this means one cyl will CC more than another? This is the first time I have heard of this.
