  • Sponsorships 101! It's the key to racing!

Here is a great site that gives you step by step lessons on how to find a sponsor. I think it has 9 or 10 lessons.

We race for fun it makes no difference how many you can name. Its not about sponsorship its about a good clean fun family weekend away from the house and the standard 9-5 work week. Not sure what your point is Gordie ? If someone wants to read up on sponsorship 101 so be it, information is power and can never hurt.

BINGO YA GOT IT. We race for fun!!!!! one of first biggest mistake boat races have raced for fun and not the public we try to promote the sport but do it in a way no one except a few want in. All these years we have raced for ourself and have forgotten about the people watching. we promt with in and as long as we have water to race on who cares. membership is slow in growth and it seem we do not care, we run six to eight hours and there is only a few watching, maybe we should have ran this as a bussiness and not aas a fun just come and go for a ride. we change rules not add to them every year. we restrict our shelfs more and more each year for what. let try to promote thiis to the public as more profession sport the whole familly can have fun doing and think more of the public watching than just ourself. when was the last time any of us went to race of what ever type and paid no fee for watching and stay their all day and watch abunch of people racing for fun and and had no idea what was going on. my nickel worth we have raced for racers for so many year we have hurt ourself , when we should have raced for the public to build this so called sport or fun weekend for the family spud.

              AMEN!!!

Gotta have a turnout to get folks to kick in bucks for prizes, ambulances, promotion, racer meals, porta-potties, electrical service, off-duty police types (at some races), etc. etc.

That's the route we're taking in Oklahoma...gotta put on a show with very little "dead" time. Folks today are used to action, a commercial or three or four, and more action.

How Much Money Do You Need From A Sponsor For It To Be Legitimate

The People Who Have Sponsors Have Work Hard To Get Them ,the Clubs Who Have Sponsored Races Have Worked Hard To Get Them. I Saved The Web Site And Will Read It In Detail When I Have More Time Thanks For The Site.i Have Found The More Sponsors I Get The More Fun I Can Have, But All This Takes Work And Only A Few Are Willing To Go The Extra Mile , If You Ask Me That Is Why The Sport Is At A Stand Still. When Was The Last Time You Made Up A Program To Sell That Let The Spectators Know What Is Going On ( Depue Mens Club) ,printed A Flyer To Post Thru Out The Town To Let The People Know About The Race, Or Put Up Signs For Cars Passing By To Let Them Know There Is A Boat Race ,contacted The Local Paper And Radio Station For Non Profit Media ,talk To The City Or Local Chamber Or Visitor Center Or The Sport Maketting People For That County To See If They Have Grant Money Or Volenters Ect Ect Ect . See I Told You It Is Hard Work And Time Consuming , But We Would Rather Set Back And Point The Fingers That Are Sport Is Dying Becase Of This That And The Other I Say Look At Yourself First And Get Involved In Apba Your Local Club And Find Out What You Can Do To Help And Maybe Even Read The Web Site That Was Provided To You Instead Of Pissing And Moaning Thanks We Already Have Plenty Of Those In Are Sport Let Me Know How Much Effort You Put In This Year And Remember You Only Get Back As Much As You Put In

                Thanks Paul

NOTHING PERSONAL IF you want to point a finger at myself so be it. !970 I ran with sponors from beer dist to car dealership and spent a lot of time promotion their produce and well as boat racing. the last two year after getting back into the sport ran a FEH under the Digatron banner. With Digatron help for a local series of races and other sponors by other drivers helped our local club put on some great races. When you have these sponors support and the owner of the company is willing to support your team and club consideration should be taken th help them sell product. When racer tell your sponor they would not drive let say a Ford if their life depend on it or they a fast without a tac and do not need to know what is happening with heat temp, or would not drink that brand of drink no matter what. Ya point that finger high and proudly at them. Year ago a personal friend of mine like by most hated by a few put on a so call title series race in nother idaho. tom promote the sport better and the joy of the sport more than anyone I know of. He raced out of spokane in the title series down south set record and ran at national for a few years. Gary pugh know tom also. His talent as a driver and a promotor were outstanding. two or three people in each club can make a different but we need all to beware of what is happening and why. so point that mighty finger proudly and shout from the hight mountain and let all those deaf ears listen. and keep doing the same old same o thing. and let the few of us try to make the difference. respect your sponors and treat them with the same recept you would treat your mother and maybe they will be around for a while. i am getting to old for this spud

Mine was legit for a while

Mikes Hard Lemonade, for over $7,500 cash and they thought is was a bargin. They did drop me however as soon as they started doing television and the Bush series.

It is hard, but it is possible.

                        Later,

Since I am the web master I should know better and should probably let this drop but I am still a bit lost on your comments. I just took a look at the F1-UIM site and sponsorship seems to be the in thing. This lack of legitimate sponsorship you speak of must be an American problem only.
