Many UIM records have been broke there.... I believe this is more of an opportunity for a US driver to be showcased at a large European event, with a very good possibilty of breaking this record.
Good Luck John!

With a major helping hand from Peters and May (no relation) http://petersandmay.com/ and Nauticpromo https://www.facebook.com/Nauticpromo who is promoting the event, international competitors have been invited to race in one of the world's most distinguished race events. JW Myers is organizing a container to head to England, which will carry at least 4 boats to the event and will be attempting records in OSY400 (Bob Wartinger, current record holder as well as myself), O250/350 (Aaron Salmon) and JW Myers (f500/f700) with a possibility of a mystery boat or two to show up.
We'll be post live to an international audience through HydroRacer TV https://www.facebook.com/hydroracertv as the event unfolds.

For those who want a look at UK Speedweek activity, here's video:
http://www.cumbrialive.tv/
The initial videos cover last year's event, including J-Dub's kilo and Oval demo in U-11, and if you fish through the long list of video Martin's put up you'll find video from previous Speedweeks that I think include Julian Codling's 112 mph 250cc kilo from a couple years ago.
This event has a long history on water famed for historic records attempts. It's a terrific show and a happy connection for Seattle Outboard's 4 UK members.
In the past, because Speedweek and D-Lake are run at roughly the same time, we've had infrequent "sportsman's" competitions with competitors on Coniston. The last was about 10 years ago Between Jerry Hopp and Jim Noone, for the UIM R-Infinity (Over 7,000 cc) inboard mark. Gerry reset the UL to the UIM spec and ran 153 in a coastal windstorm (record was 149). A week later Jim ran 150 on Monday, then lost a prop, Saving his Miss Windermere from a 160 mph blow-over on Wednesday, but recovered to run 154 on Friday.
