Trident, I'm sure you would lose a urinating contest (probably come up short) because you ARE rude and your sarcastic comments toward Ricochet 112 are not necessary in this post. His comments to help, with the diagnosis, of the problem, did not deserve your stupid, sarcastic answers. How many times do you say you are finished with this post until you are REALLY done with this post. You said you will SHUT UP, but we will see. Let people post suggestions to help solve the problem without receiving sarcastic comments from you. We now know why you ask if you still have friends.

I would need the serial number to verify, but this old of a motor may not have the inner cover to cool the exhaust...
The 4 cylinder Merc 800 as shown in the above referenced parts picture is of a 4 cylinder. These engines had an exhaust enhance that has a gasket under it which would account for the third one. If the correct parts picture is observer for the 50 HP you will only find two gaskets. To my knowledge all 4 cylinder 30, 40 and 44 cubic inch engines had only two gaskets.

Thanks for all the help guy's. I will do some more checking on the motor and see what I can come up with. Now I need to find a prop for it.

thx, i havent been back since my last post, theres a reason i dont post here much any more...morons with keyboards have to lash out to make their pathetic little lives seem worthwhile. no desire to see what the old cranky farts have to say either. fyi, it's either the bottom seal, powerhead base gasket or exhaust cover plate since your motor does not have the gasket i thought it did.
