  • Taste of the Regions for Summer Nationals

OK, George Luce asked me to help, he may regret this

I have created a facebook page under the same title, for those who are not using this media, this post is for you!

Taste of the Regions years ago was a huge success, and lets do it again! Please post what you will be bringing, a dish from everyone will ensure no one leaves hungry. Please bring a special dish from your region or your special dish from home. For example I am bringing Perogi's covered in fried sweet onions with sour cream on the side. Bring your own plates/cups/silverware
Speaking of hungry, we are fortunate to be able to travel and attend such an event. Many families struggle daily just to provide food for their families. I am asking for canned food donation/or monetary donation that will be collected that night to be donated to the local food pantry in Whitney Point. I have contacted St. Patrick's Church who has a food bank open to the public 4 days a week, and once a month they have a mobile food bank. Please consider donating to this cause.

Anyone who has any questions please contact me. Thanks everyone, I will begin the harassing and begging closer to the event.

What a great idea, Christine; donations to the local food bank will be more appreciated than you realize, and will certainly leave a favorable impression of our racing community. I grew up near that area and I can tell you that the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes region of New York has been depressed for a good number of years.
Still doesn't look like I'll be able to be at the nationals myself, but you can bet that Sidewinder will be making a donation! And I know that George Luce loves to show off Long Island/New England seafood fare, so enjoy and thanks to George.
Perogies - Christine you're making me drool; growing up Ukrainian I had homemade perogies every Friday night (couldn't eat meat on Fridays back then). I've got to see if I can send someone else overseas so I can come to the nationals!!!

          tastey contribution

It would help to know what we should shoot for in terms of number of servings which is appropriate. I will prepare,on site, my famous (locally) St Lawrence River fish chowder. I don't know if one gallon ,or five gallons makes sense. Anyone have a five gallon kettle ? I'll have enough northern pike to do the five gallons, but I'd cry if it didn't get used up.

Two weeks away! Thank you for those who have said they will participate, I know MORE PEOPLE have looked at this thread!

This tradition of feeding the masses began a long ago and most of the older racers remember when Mrs. Dewald fed the single guys in the pits, with eventually families participated as well.

Let us honor this tradition. We are all family, lets join in for food and share our memories!
