  • Centralia Illinois to Binghampton

We are thinking of hitting the NBRA nationals in Illinois before heading to Stock and Mod nationals in New York. What are other racers gonna do? Any other APBA racers gonna make the trip? Dave

          Nats

Does not look like that huge a detour....next freeway south from normal route west east. What is the race site like?

            Centrailia

Pits are a nice big parking lot, water is probably the best water I have ever raced on, we have raced there for a number of years and have never even been delayed for rough water. The course will be a one mile course with 5 buoy turns. There will be a full field plus in the D class!!!!

Huh. that's an idea....Pretty much in the area around that time of the drive from the west coast.

I have had other APBA drivers with IOA that have called and are coming. They are planning on heading to New York also. I know you will like Raccoon Lake to race on. V-25 Alan

It is a great place to race. Plenty of room and lots of fun.. It will be hot but you will have a blast and lots of pipes.. Also great viewing area

                        Nbra

Thanx for all the info. I talked to the person that is hauling my junk back east and they may be in. Looks like a fantastic place to race! Just need to figure out the logistics (where to fly into and stuff) Dave

Bring your A game if you plan to run D Hydro. NBRA has some very very very fast Tahotsu's and a pretty quick Mod Merc in the class. I have yet to see a Merc 44XS compete and win. If you run the D R better bring the A game as well. Likely to be a full field of those as well, and they all smell blood !

The race course is layout is similar to Dayton, only with more room for milling and on both sides. Lake is situated so that it is very hard to get blown out. The judges stand is in perfect location, halfway down the front stretch. Basically the best case scenario one could ask for. And I do believe we have complet control of that big lake. No pleasure craft interfering. I have never seen it occur anyways. Lets just say one of my favorite all time races has occured on that lake. In SEH (850CCMH) we fit a passel of us hard chargers into the first turn at the same time. We all made it out without incident, and without cracking the throttle. Might not have been the smartest thing but it sure increases the pucker factor ten fold for the racer and spectator alike ! Attached is a Pic of that first turn action. I am in the X boat.
