The new hemp A with Sidewinder must wait. The boat is finished but no testing yet. Weather and life gets in the way.

When I entered Oregon I received a "free inspection" of my watercraft ... they were interested in the hydros and one of the inspectors took lots of pictures. They thought I'd need to purchase an Invasive Species permit. I assume we don't because of the sanctioned race, but does anyone know if we have to acquire such a permit?

At one time a Californian coming in to Oregon was considered an invasive species. Welcome to Oregon. Cullaby Lake is a great place to race.

Not sure, but this is becoming more and more common. Dave Anderson, when returning into WA from OR Memorial day, was stopped by WA State troopers (fish and wildlife too?) and inspected his boat and trailer.

Coming into California for years (and still) along I-5 you must stop and speak with an inspector looking for trailers with water craft.

And at Burley,ID last weekend all racers were required by the State to buy a permit ($26) to even put the boat in the water. No one even knew this existed, even the organizers of Burley.

The west coast is getting really up tight about this invasive species thing. The New Zealand? snail has devastated water eco-systems up and down west coast. The states are now trying to stop it. They believe is occurs because of out of state water craft. Snails attach themselves to watercraft in water (mainly when parked on docks for long periods of time) and transport themselves up and down the coast feeding on these eco-systems. Region 10 Lost Capital Lake in Olympia because of this phenomena (which also created uncontrollable grass growing in lake).

Best thing when talking with these inspectors in whatever state is tell them these are race boats that are not stored in water. They are only in the water for minutes at a time.

                                See you in Seaside!
