        D mod at Yelm

There were 6 or 7 d mods at Yelm Saturday....2 of which were Tohatsu powered. I could have sent somebody out in my rig (Tohatsu powered) but it was running so slow there was no point. Also...congrads to David Sullivan in 20ssh...broke the record.. Also...Olivia Valentine was right there in ASH...could not get decent water for a record run....Records were not set in either CSH or DSH.....a humble racerdave

          Actually...Dave is mostly correct.

Saturday, water was not perfect, but a lot better then Sunday. We set 2 MOD records & 3 SO 95% records out of 7 total outboard classes (2 MOD & 5 SO classes) that raced with the inboards on the 1 2/3 mile record course at Lawrence Lake.

2 MOD records, these are 100%, were shattered by around 2 miles an hour each, by John Maroney in 500ccmh (CMH) & Jason Williams in 750ccmh (DMH)
And 3 SO records, these are 95%, were set by David Sullivan in 20ssh, Sean Byrne in CSH & Kyle Bahl in CSR. Olivia Valentine in ASH was over the 95%, but with only 3 starters, so no record. And Daren Goehring was close, but came up short in DSH.

          All for now
          Jim

It's like masterbating, not quite as neat as the real thing.

Thanx for the update Jim. I was so busy working on a balky D stock I did not have all the info I should have. The 95% rule means in stock that you have to go 95% of the old record to re-estalblish the record...the reasoning is that so many records in the stock catagory were set before there were transom height rules....the D stock record is around 77 mph on the mile and 2/3....with no transom height rule. (using that as an example) I do not think it is possible to break it with the rules we now have in place....thus the 95% rule. There are Hall of champion implications etc with all of this....either myself or Kyle Bahl can update more in the future. Dave

the DSH record is beatable........with a little smoother race conditions and no wind......it can be done!!

Leave it to John, whose better half is pregnant, to make this comparison.

Great photos.. Look at 1077 of 2831..
It gives one the illusion that the buoy is in the boat!!!
                            Great timing!!!

2 years ago the SORC in APBA grandfathered all stock records But to re-establish the record one must get a minimum of 95% of the old record. The reason was to try and boost record participation (mainly kilos) and, as dave mentioned, some records were unabtainable in today's racing (transom height's, etc). No hall of champions points are given to those record holders who re-establish the record using the 95% rule. the second person to break the new record will get HOC points. Of course if you do break the old record to re-establish the record one could get HOC points.

This weekend the 3 stock records broke used the 95% rule. It was not the best conditions for record setting. I feel I could have got the CSR over 100% (1 mile off at 60.019mph), but because of conditions that was all I personally was able to obtain. Maybe next time. In the mean time it was pretty cool to see a newer guy get a record, Dave Sullivan. Congrats again man.

And great pictures by chris denslow. Also F. Pierce williams was there, so he should be putting some pictures out sometime.
