Assembled a new 44
We have been having reed valve issues with our 44 so I decided to build another. The block was sitting on the shelf already ported by Doug Kay so all I needed to do was gather up the parts and assemble it. Nothing fancy but it should be a work horse. Used the Merc 1404 light pistons, .801 crank, Brinkman no drag rings, KC-7 carbs, and a 44XS transfer port cover. I fired it today and all went well. 45 min of running and compression came in excellent. We will boat test it at Mountain Home AR and see what can get from the unit. I all goes well I intend to put a hatchet under the engine and a new stick tower. Having 10 built. Try to upload photos later. Getting error now.
