    Record Course

I also like the triangle course at Eatonville....maybe we can agree to do the 3/4 mile record course every 5 years or something. Just an idea.

A wise man once told me he knew the answer to everything - money. So now that we know the answer, the question is how much. I've located four individuals that would be willing to throw money into a pot, just let know where we should send the funds.

That is a very wise man. What's the chance we can do the course at yelm if eatonville can not support that course. If i remember correctly there were not very many records set on the eatonville course, and that was the reason to not continue it? stop me if i'm wrong...

The good news (and the bad)

The good news is that Mr Sandstrom did not reject the idea completely. Here's some of what we need, if you can help hook me up that would certainly help the cause:
1)We need a surveyor on money for that person.
2)We need a floating barge for the start finish, there's no way to set a record using the dock as the barge.
            3)We need extra sanction money.
4)A record inspector for the race (currently Carl and Dave)

That is the beginning of the list, I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting right now.

I suggest that you review the Sanction fees for record course. Cost us $1000 - $200 for on line filing. $800 bucks.

We can have a 3/4, 1or 1/14 mile at Oroville if we can get the money to host it.

I'm all for record opportunities, but?

Just a little history, & don't quote me, but we have run the 3/4 mi. record course at Silver Lake, Eatonville...start/finish line on the front stretch. If someone like John wants to put the sponsorship money up, I'm sure Tony could make it happen. But, maybe just me, because of the small course, water conditions were not great (tough for records) on the second & third lap, as waves did not disipate (sp) well, even on calm days.

We did use a start/finish line on the backstretch, a year or so, with the 1 mi. record course that we were able to squeeze in with some (record) success.

                    All for record opportunities.

not sure it would be beneficial (money wise) for you Bill, as the Divisionals are already in Copperopolis (or Oroville??) and the Winter Nats were down in Bakersfield, so not sure you would get a good turnout for another event, especially from the racers to the North of you..........as I sure would not want to see a record race at the SAME time as the Divisionals....

yes-- the barge needs to be on the other side of the drink---on the dock doesnt work for records. We had success with the floating barge. I recommend a floating barge above water for Rick-- I dont think he would go for the submerged version I had with all the electronics

                            3/4 mile record course

If memory serves me correct I was the race director for the few times we did the record course thing.....it was a major pain getting the barge set up on the other side of the lake. I think there is a pontoon boat moored a few doors up from the pits we could use for a barge. Also, having the quiet new generator will sure help. I also seem to remember that we did not set any records with the 3/4 mile thing....water was just to rough. While I would not mind a crack at the record, I wonder if it is just to much of a hassle for everybody concerned. Dave

Dave, I think the offshore barge was was for the mile only. The 3/4 was pretty close to the size of our regular "eyeball" course and we were able to slip the 3/4 in without twisting it. The mile's extra 1300 feet required the course to be rotated to move the first turn slightly west.

I'm guessing with the new featherwieght clock and generator the same rotation for the shorter3/4 might allow for a more stable floating barge between the dock and course, and the rotated layout might cut decibel levels to shut up the noise-nannies.

i think if you do run a 3/4 mile course at lawrence a lot less people will show up...
