Cutting Kevlar pants from a propeller?

Are our patrol boats prepared with something to cut Kevlar from the unthinkable like a driver tangled in a propeller?
I found these on line.

The "unthinkable" has happened - forgot what race but in was a rescue boat scramble to keep the engine from sinking the driver. Rescue shears are a must have!

I have a pair onboard my crash truck at the airport because aircraft seat belts are tough buggers - no time to be neat, just cut the dang things.

Bill the race was last Sept in Big Rapids Mich, I was on one of the rescue boats. I never want to go through that again.

Now a days you want the best not some reworked crap.. Ambulance even need them since a lot of motorcycle folks wear kevlar also.. I wonder what folks use that make the Lifeline and SRP equipment that we use

Couldn't agree more

In Standish Maine last year something like that would have come in handy. Trying to cut through Kevlar to get to an injury took forever. Wire cutters, knife etc doesnt work at all. EMTs didnt have anything to cut through this may save a life for sure. Every rescue boat should have a pair.

The reason I bring this up is because I have seen it first hand with my Brother, back in the late 80's where his boat came down ontop of him causing the three blade to tear him open and tangle around his blue jeans!, luckly he was able to tear himself loose from the prop shaft and slide himself onto Sam Sayers boat deck and get to shore.
If he was wearing Kevlar that day he would have probaly never got himself thorn loose from the prop shaft in time for he had lost a large amount of blood.
After 40 plus stitches and a week in the hospital all is well, but he is still alittle upset about the brand new pair of blue jeans he was wearing that day!

I saw a guy get an arm injury that the EMT's needed to cut off his sleeves to get at. They pulled out an ordinary scissors from their kit and sliced them right off with no trouble. It would seem that specialty tools might not be needed, however I'm really not ready to test this out on my own suit.

Were you sure they were "ordinary Scissors"?

The scissors they used was a pair of those that they use to cut tape and bandages with. The reason I remember so well is that the driver's dad was telling the medics that their puny little scissors wouldn't cut the "cutproof" sleeves but they cut through like it was paper.
