Umpteen years ago, I saw a guy with a 25 mod hydro who had installed a canard. His was adjustable while underway. He adapted a cordless drill inside one sponson to power the adjustment mechanism. He had a thumb switch to operate it mounted to the throttle. I don't know how well it worked. And I have no idea if a canard that is adjustable while underway is even legal in today's world.

Ive heard of the same type thing, I'd think on the fly adjustment would need to be practiced as well as have double stops so ya don't go overboard while tweeking it.

Nope....it is not legal to have it adjustable while underway. That would be cool though.....

Hopps run a motorized wing with a rocker-switch on the GP. I've only seen a single failure over many years, and the result positive because full-down as the default set-up.

Inboards established and perfected adjustable canards over a long period, so i'd see that as set precedent. I'm the sort to read rules for what's not said, and in a careful reading of rules I don't see any sort of prohibition.

If I were to build one I'd use an actuator-rod and Bell-crank set-up, and maybe a small but torquey 12v DC starter motor from a 125 to 150cc bike. That way actuation gear's mostly in the cockpit.

                    Canard

Interesting stuff John....I have not read the stock rulebook for a while, but if memory serves me correct there is something in there about it not being legal to have adjustable surfaces on a boat...I will re-read it tonite. Here are a few more pics I just took this afternoon. Boat is about 1/2 hour away from being ready for epoxy on the decks and stuff. Anybody have any hints for making it so I do not have to sand a lot? Dave
