"A boom to the Orilville economy."

Exactly what we should be advertising to local media. Great job East Bay boat club for getting the word out like this.

a story behind this. We were required by the Calif Fish and Wildlife for permit reasons to post an add in the Oroville and Chico newspaper. Same company stating the closure of a few boat ramps that have access to the south after bay. so I called the newspaper and placed the add. Then I get a call from a reporter asking questions. I informed her about boat racing etc. and frankly the time Trials is NOT a good place for spectators. Gee the last thing the DWR department wants is a a large crowd on the levy. Away i told her that boatracing brings money into town, we stay at the hotels, buy gasoline. etc. So somehow she comes up with the old add from the Nationals.

Bill Boyes had to do some posting in the local papers to notify the public that the afterbay was closed for the weekend due to boat "racing". He also posted signs at all the ramps. He probably also notified the media as well. Sure doesn't hurt. It sure would be nice if everyone attending had some cards printed out, maybe with the name of your race team or just your name. A statement such as "XXXX race team participated in the time trials being held at the afterbay. We enjoyed our visit in Oroville and patronized your business as well as others. We would like to come back again and would appreciate your support of future boat racing events here in Oroville. Thank you" I have one made up but it won't post in the format I used. Just a slip of paper would do it, at least mention to business owners that you were here for the boat races.

We are looking forward to having all of you at the Time Trials".
