  • Air Guard Drops H1 Unlimited Sponsorship

    Via Hydro News

After two years as title sponsor for H1 Unlimited, the Air National Guard sponsored series is no more.

Hydro News learned on Monday from multiple sources with direct knowledge of the decision that the sponsorship has ended.
Speaking with us under anonymity, our sources are very well connected within the H1 Unlimited family.

This comes after 6 years that the former ABRA and currently named H1 Unlimited ran without title sponsorship for the world's fastest boats.
The tour begins the 2013 season this Friday in Doha, Qatar at the UIM World Championship/Oryx Cup.

Unfortunately the Department of Defense (DoD) budget has been drastically cut this year and the Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines) are making the hard decisions on budget cuts in preparation of the impending Sequestration cuts coming up in March ($50 Billion/year for next ten years). Joint Base Lewis-McChord operating budget is cut in excess of 50% (yeap - over half) - and almost all other DoD bases getting same cut. Impacts our ability to run a race at JBLM's Little American Lake this year - the post just can't agreed to support as they're are trying to figure out how to keep the lights on, provide emergency services, and maintain security... Folks want to support but the extremely rigid budget guidance from DoD is clear cut... and it looks like the ANG H1 Unlimited series is a casualty. Times are lean my friends!
