Without a doubt, one of the prettiest engines I have ever seen! It almost makes a stock guy, go mod!

Coming from a guy on the fence about sidewinders, that is a awesome looking engine.
I read elsewhere that sidewinder will be offering mod "kits". Would this include the pipe/bracket and short tower housing? Would the short tower housing fit a rotary valve hot rod?

I'm not 100% sure about the mod motors but I don't see why the new electric start option for Sidewinders wouldn't work as well.
FYI - The electric start complete package includung battery is only about six lbs (good-bye starting rope, hit the start button and off you go).John Runne

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.
True parity is one motor per class.

Sidewinder Mod Kits
Our Mod versions have been designed as a Stage I and a Stage II. The Stage I allows a racer to quickly convert between stock and mod. Stage II with the short tower is "the point of no return" as the engine cannot quickly be converted back to stock configuration. Stage 1 Mod Class engines permit the racer to easily and quickly switch between Stock and Mod configurations, even between heats at the same race.
The powerhead is mounted to a stock-height tower (the powerhead is so light that the taller configuration has no impact on handling performance). To race in a mod class, simply remove the exhaust cover and replace with the header/plate/filler block as a single unit, slide the pipe in, and attach the supporting struts with pull-pins. Adjust transom height and carb jet and go! In this way, a number of different classes, both stock and mod, can be raced at the same event. As I understand it now, for the 20 ci version, these classes would include B hydro and runabout, 20SS hydro, 25SS hydro, 25SS runabout, and B Mod. For A, if the 15S powerhead is used, the motor could run in both A stock and A mod. If the 15H powerhead is used, the motor could run in B stock and A mod.
Stage 2 presumes that the racer has no intention of racing stock with this engine and instead wants to do everything legal to the engine to achieve maximum performance in a modified configuration.
While the factory powerhead remains in stock configuration ready for legal modifications, a short tower is added to the stage I configuration. Engine mods to achieve top performance, including any removal of metal, will prevent the engine from qualifying for the stock classes.
I have attached the product announcement from the National Meeting.
These configurations are available for A and B mod; the A mod version uses the 15H powerhead with larger ports and carb than the 15S unit; the B uses the 20S powerhead.
We have also come out with an electric start option that adds 4-5 lbs including the battery. The battery is quite small, weighing just 2.2 lbs and can be mounted wherever best suited to the driver. We got the idea for this watching the J and new A kids stall when coming out of the pits and when milling and were forced to just watch the race from their boat because of the chance of water coming in over the transom if they tried to get in back to restart the engine. With the starter, they can just push the button on the dash and they're back in the race.
Prices have not yet been determined but will be announced shortly.
