  • Looking For A Used D-Hydro In Michigan?

    Boaters,

I am up in Traverse City, Michigan looking to get a decent

C-Hydro to start with. I am 5'7" around 220 lbs. and 53 yrs. old.

Looking to have some fun and possibly do a little vintage racing.

After talking with a few racers maybe the D-Hydro is a little much

for a beginner, and maybe the C-class would be a better pick. I think

I will do the racers school and get some practice with a good used C-class

    set up.

    DSH Boat

I have a vintage and competitive 1985 Karelson that is in perfect condition.
Dry storage only! Very nice paint. Not very many of these left!
I dont really want to sell it but I would if the price was right. I am not going to race it anymore. Its a boat from the good old days on the west coast!

I met up with Ed and Mike a few months ago and they have runabouts only.

        I am a Hydro guy.

        Finn,

OR is quite a road trip from TC, do you have any pictures? Any idea

        Of shipping costs?

        Thanks,

              Here is One

If you want to know where there is one that will not only compete with anything out there today, and probably out turn any of them, let me know. It is a Merc 44XS on a boat I am very familiar with. I think you could buy it as a package. I know it was up for sale about 3 or 4 years ago. The Tohotsu was just being brought on board and anyone looking then bought one of those to try.

If you want some more info on it, let me know in a private message. I can put you in contact with the owner. It is located in MI.

                  Fellas,

Maybe the D-class is too much to start with so I think a C-class maybe

a better pick to get started with.

                  Thanks For All The Help,

Not a size issue, or is it?

                      BlueSky,

220 isn't going to hinder Mark to the point of not being competitive in CSH. However, I'd hate for a new driver who is at the verge of being able to go into either CSH or DSH to go out and buy a D Hydro when no one in our area are racing them... not to mention the cost difference between a D Hydro and C... suddenly D gets even costlier when it sits on the beach.

Good point Hutch!..I will never be an "upfront" guy in a runabout or a Hydro..that being said..I was lucky enouch to have a borrowed Hydro at our last race in Big Rapids..CSH had 8 or 9 entries and I believe I was between 4th and 6th all weekend..in my first Hydro ride in 16yrs..might not win at that weight but will have a Ton o Fun!!

CSH and the MHRA Driving School is the way to go!!

It's a great bunch of people that do a wonderful job teaching people and then getting them on the water.

Be sure to talk to Elek H. He'll get you all the information you need.
