The best helmet is one that fits you properly. Go to a couple local motorcycle shops or motorsport show or something and try several on, several brands and several models within brands. MANY people wear helmets that are way too big.

The best quote that was always said to me was if you have a $5 head get a $5 helmet.

The Seebold Racing Team used to be Arai dealers.
Try calling them. I believe they are in the St. Louis area.

Since $$$$ does not necessarily equate to a helmet being safer, where can you go to view actual independent lab testing to find measurable data to verify safety level for a helmet ?

I always wore Bell helmets until they stopped making one that I liked. At that point I bought a Shoei and I liked it just fine. I've never had an Arai but they have a good reputation. If I were in the market for a helmet today I'd take a very close look at Airoh brand helmets.

I like my Simpson helmet. Some things to look for besides fit, are weight heavier helmet= more stress on neck. Also, a lot of motorcycle helmets have contours and vents that can cause more drag when it hits the water. You should talk to Bob Wartinger about safety of helmets also.

Realy Like my new Aria. its small to keep drag down when entering the water, light, and it fits very nice, no movement even in rough water.

Impact (carbon fiber one) is "the" best. Arai is good for a inexpensive helmet. But, I think I'm upgrading from the Simpson to the IMPACT!!! It's just over a grand, but, a head injury is forever!!!!
