If you were looking for the same thread I am you might be interested to know that the minutes from the last USTS board meeting are now posted on their web site.
If USTS is going to be an NBRA club I wonder if anyone has given thought to bidding for this summers APBA PRO Nationals.

I think his will end up being a huge issue for APBA. In my opinion, it makes NBRA a viable choice for the future. 7-R

Close/Delet
This thread should be closed & deleted. The subject being discussed has nothing to do with ASH pickle tips at last years APBA Nat's.
In addition, I don't know if there is any truth to any items being discussed here. There are no contracts signed.Dave Mason

This question was in regards to the question I asked on the ASH thread. It was not about the USTS and NBRA."Ask anyone, I have no friends. I do have some people that put up with me and mostly because they like the rest of my family"

If this thread is referencing my earlier post regards the USTS meeting last weekend..
.......I neither closed, or asked that the thread be closed.
I do understand that because of the many, many phone calls, e-mails, etc., on this subject, that it was felt best just from a communication standpoint that all information on this subject be posted on the USTS website., and for whatever difference that makes, I have no objection that the thread I started on this matter was closed.
For further information I would suggest that(USTS website) be where you look.
On another matter:
When someone chooses to deny that this vote by the USTS board took place, and then call the poster that put the information up a liar, in writing on the same thread, you would think when they are proved wrong and that information about the 6-1 vote for affiliation DID take place, and information to confirm was posted on the USTS web site, an apology would be forthcoming.
But since either thru ignorance or not caring about the truth, two separate comments were made denying that the information I posted was the truth, when if fact it was and if the persons posting actually attended the meeting as stated, should have known that, I guess we shall see what we shall see.
I would hope that one of the persons posting the information calling me a liar, would have a different outlook now that they are a PRO Commissioner from Region 7. It is one thing to have a disagreement on what direction an organization should take, quite another to call someone a liar when the person making that accusation knows better.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have some questions:
Does the "rule book" make a distinction between speed and safety violations?
If so, does it note the appropriate/expected penalty based on type of violation?
Or do any/all violations safety or speed result in the dreaded DQ.

This thread, and the aforementioned closed thread has everything to do with the 2012 Nationals, pickle fork tips, and the rules surrounding the entire fracas.
The truth is, Matt was disqualified by the Inspector (rightfully so, per the rules). The SORC overturned the Inspector's ruling and reinstated Matt (also rightfully so, per the rules). The appeal filed overturned the SORC decision, and herein lies the rub;
Rule 18.4: "Should any boat or owner commit a breach of the rules, which is of a minor or technical nature, and in the judgment of the Referee has had no direct effect on the relative position of the boats at the finish, the Referee shall have the power to decide whether or not such boat shall be disqualified."
It is therefore my opinion that, since there was no record of verbal or written warning issued about the boat's pickle fork tips prior to the 2012 Nationals, a written warning should have been served and filed at inspection, and the resulting appeal should not have overturned the SORC.
As for the closing and deleting of threads, you may as well just delete the entire site since it is becoming apparent that differences of opinion and/or unpopular opinion can be discarded with the click of a mouse, thus greatly diminishing the integrity of not only the conversations, but the entire website.

This website remains the best source of information regarding boat racing as we know it. If everyone would keep the threads on track about the subject in the title, none of the deleting would occur. Also, as for the USTS and NBRA stuff within this thread, those should be deleted out. It has no place here. The NBRA has no desire to post anything about it since no contracts are signed, so there is nothing to discuss at this point. Just my opinion as well..... and we all know about opinions, everyone has a few.
As for the DQ, I tend to agree with you on the process. It flat out sucks, but this is going to happen when you have so many rules that are left to interpretation. It is hard to understand the rulebook in APBA, because you have to read in so many different places to get to the truth. One superceeds this, that rules in the other book over rides that, it is just confusing to me. And I have raced boats for 32 years. Not everyone can read and think like the ones who wrote the book. Diversity in your culture needs to be recognized.Dave Mason

The problem is, as I have been told by others much more astute than me, that only about 50-percent of racers know only about 50-percent of the rules. I'm not trying to be insulting; it appears to be the truth. Nobody can know all the rules. I certainly don't know all the rules; never have claimed to. This is why we get updated rule book .PDFs every year, and why we're supposed to periodically review them.
That being said, if one were to really focus, read the rules, and apply logic when a certain scenario presents itself, the rules are really not that hard to interpret.Michael J. Mackey
