Porting question on 40ci. merc?

Working on a build using a 300 block. The tower will be a "H" with a "D" foot. Would like to stay with the stock exhaust system.Will using the Brinkman mods work? Or is it just for open exhaust? With pipes.

Porting

The Brinkman porting will show a slight gain in engine performace when the exhaust is closed but when pips are used a considerable improvement will be seen. We run a 44 Mercury with a Brinkman port job and it performs very well.
