Testing at Oleopolis, PA

I would like to thank all those who came to Oleopolis and the Allegheny River to test and to just have a good time.

Here are some pictures some include: Jeff & Brian Williams, French, Sam Bucholz (First time in a hydro ever) and Doug Follet. Along with Archie Lewis and Charlie Fry. Many others showed as well.

I apoligize for not having so many pics as my batteries died and had nowhere to get any so hopfully Charlie Fry has some good pictures.

Once again great time and hope to do it again (with more water in the river)

That's Charlie in the first photo and the fire is about 15' to his right. He is in all his glory. The man was even asked to sleep in a motorhome or a camp but declined it all and slept in his sleeping bag. It was about 27 degrees Friday night too. Ya gotta love his dedication to the sport of boat racing.

Charlie went out the day before and placed milk jugs where needed. We did not have any "tide" bottles available.
It was one heck of a good time. The locals caught about 30lbs of Bass, (Had a fish fry that night) We watched about 6-8 deer (some buck) walking along the river on the other side and to top it off a Bald Eagle flew right down the center of the river.

Next year I'll post it on Hydroracer and all are welcome.

Oleopolis

A special thank you to Mike Stevenson and Charlie Fry for finding this piece of heaven to test race boats. We met Mike's parents and most of the neighbors who set up lawn chairs and watched all day. The only question was "You mean you're done?". Gracious hosts all as we pitted in 3 neighbors' back yards. A couple of photos to follow.

Thanks Mike & Charlie for letting us "outsiders" play in your sandbox. It is a great place and had a fun time. Hope the nieghbors enjoyed the show.
A special Thank you to Charlie who was in the water helping the entire time - I am guessing his toes are just now starting to thaw out.

I heard that for next year, Charlie is putting in a paved launch ramp & water heaters. That is what somebody said.

Was a pleasure ta cook fer YA'LL with that old "Griswall" fry pan Mike Sr. found in his Mum's former cabin......Keep it "Seasoned" and I will use it again at the NEXT......Charlie Fry tribute to...PHIL ZIGG!!!!!!(Miss ya Phill!....R.I.P. my friend!)

No, this was up river from the old Oil City site by a couple miles.

I think that there will be another Fun Run at the Oil City Race Site in early Nov.
