Complicated
Here's a great shot of the cockpit. 22" wide leaves plenty of room for padding. TimAttached Files

New Boat Photo
Well we ran the new boat this weekend with a new build on the power head and it performed very well. Now we will have to work on setup! Our C MOD MRC now runs like a dream! The nose lift is under control and we can set the engine neutral without an issue. The pads (4mm thick) with the 1 1/2 inch bottom extension along with trimming the sponson air traps about 70% of there length really tamed it down. No more 15 lbs of lead in the nose and might even move the fuel tank aft. It was very windy at Tunk's and the boat handled it very well. Now we can work on props and try our 16:21 foot.

Vee bottoms

Otherwise, bring it! Vee bottoms are absolutely legal. In fact, CSR was won last year in one. Go to the stock outboard rules and you'll find the limitations on pad width, height, and minimum dimensions. Guessing a 13' must be a "D"?

I went to the APBA Stock Outboard rules and can't find anything on pad limitations for stock boats. There's a pad limit maximum (10 inches) for modified runabouts (page 15), but I couldn't find any limits on stock boats. Am I not looking in the right place??? In the rules there's a bunch of stuff about marathons, but no specific marathon prep rules. Are there any different rules for setup or other dimensions that are different from the closed course rules? Am I missing something?
The basic SO runabout rules don't rule out a padded v hull, in fact I'm sure they allow it, so there's no problem that I can imagine with legality so long as the planing surface (pad) is at least 18 inches long, but I don't see any width limitations for stock boats.

Runabouts: A Stock Outboard Runabout hull is defined as a racing monoplane as qualified in this rule.
1) The planing surface of a runabout shall be the lowest immersed surface at the aft end of the hull to a point 36 inches forward. Also, the planing surface shall be flat forward for 18 inches at the keel. For purpose of inspection, all measurements shall be made with a tolerance plus or minus 1/16 inch, as applicable.
2) No part of the immersed surface may have a negative dead rise. The immersed surface may have a maximum notch of 5/8”, and turning fins may also be added to the immersed surface.
3) Runabouts shall have no through the hull air passages, vented surfaces or wings. The intent of this rule is to have the air flow over the outside surfaces of the hull.
4) A runabout shall not have a sponson/pod protruding from the side of the boat which interrupts the line of the side, non-trip, or bottom of the boat.
