thanks Karl I think we have the same problem..A little more to the story..At the last race we ran great till the last two heats on Sunday..Our daughter came back to the pits and said the boat had good power thru the turns but nothing on the straitaways.. They did a check and found both carb nuts had fallen off and the only thing holding the carb was the fuel line and the throttle cable.. I think that it was amazing that the boat was still running but that may have caused the plugs to start fouling..

If the motor ran lean for any length of time all the more reason to check compression, as if it got hot because of lean mixture (carb loose and sucking air around flange) you could have lost tension in the rings, or you could have leaned out and smeared a piston and stuck a ring. Compression test would tell you if you have that type problem although you probably would have to pull the exhaust cover to tell if actually the piston is smeared and ring is stuck.Last edited by bill van steenwyk; 09-11-2012, 02:20 PM.
