    One of the best

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Webster's. John - always Mr. Webster to me, will continue always be on of my favorite boat racers. I watched him race since I was old enough to walk. A well repsected quiet man.

    He will be missed.

I bought my first boat from John in 1993, he repaired my ASH after my first blowover in 1996, I race B strictly because I watched John race B when I was growing up. John handed me my arse many a time in A hydro.... Race in Peace is right, proud to have known you.

Our deepest condolences from the Utman family.

My father told me stories about how fierce a competitior was before I started racing, saying that he was the guy to beat each weekend that they crossed paths.

Well by the time I started racing John had just hung them up. I met him for the first time and could not believe that this was the guy that everyone told me was the toughest racer around. Such a nice and soft spoken man willing to help out any way he could.

Well soon after John asked me to run his B rig at Crystal Lake and I was thrilled to do so. Just before the first heat he pulled me aside and asked me if I minded that he put another shim stick under the motor. I thought sure! Whatever John thinks is better should be best. Well that heat I went into turn one and started setting for the turn and the boat starts breaking loose and going towards the shore. Luckily somehow I brought it back and finished the race. When I got back to the pits John and Ross came over with a grin and said they were gonna take that extra shim stick out.

After that ride I truly had an idea of how much John drove on the edge all the time!

Ruth, Ross, Randy, Chad and Tracy we are sorry for your loss. If you need anything just let us know.

            Ross and Family,

We are extremely sorry to hear of your loss. Nobody will ever be able to put into words just how much your Dad meant to boat racing and to the lives he touched along the way. Your Dad was, and always will be a Humble Gentleman, a Hero and a Legend to me. I will always remember your Dad's little grin every time he beat me in A hydro.

Every sport, and every person could benefit from having a John Webster in their lives, I know I sure did.

Thanks for the great memories Mr. Webster!

We will keep you in our prayers,

Russ, Annette, Jay, Joe and Amy

                John Webster

Our prayers are with you and your family. My father (Herb Lanphear Sr) and myself raced against Mr. Webster many times when we lived in New York back in the 60's and early 70's in both ASH and BSH and he was always the class of the field in all respects. Our trips to the Canadian races each year were always looked forward to because of people like your dad. Were both very saddened, and it hits home because my father is now 85 as well. May God bless you and keep you strong!!

                  John Webster

Heartfelt condolences to Mr. Webster's family at this time. Never had the privilege of meeting him when I was racing, but I can see from his long list of accomplishments how important he was to Canadian boat racing. I was lucky to have had a person like Mr. Webster as a mentor when I started in the 80's.John Webster's place in history is guaranteed.

                    A true racer & gentleman

                    Ross & Family,
Our hearts go out to you and your family for the loss of your hero , father and a great friend to all who knew your Dad. John was a gentleman to the racing community and will be missed by us that knew him for his sound advice and friendship. It was a great pleasure seeing him at the races and talking with him about racing and life in general. I still remember at Wakefield how fast his 20-H was and knew he had the field covered. May he be remembered as a friend to all that knew him and may his smile shine on you and your family.

John Webster sold me my first Sid-Craft BSH in 1961.Then he sold me a bronze prop that took me from worst to second(He was first)John Webster was one of the finest, most helpful gentlemen I have ever met.He was also the most tenacious competitor ,true quiet warrior we ever saw on the water or anywhere else.

                            John Webster the Legend

My first memories are of John racing an unconverted 20-H at
the Toronto exhibition in 1958 or 1959 and beating the new
Champion 6N-HR's. It was great to see him these past years
still coming out and sharing his extensive racing knowledge.
My condolences to the Webster family. He will be missed.

                              Ross and Family,

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news. John was a great competitor and a true gentleman. I'll always remember racing B-Canadian Hydro against him. We had some great battles in the 90's and it was always a true accomplishment the few times I was able to beat him. May he rest in peace.

My first taste of boat racing (1999) was in a B-Webster hydro I bought from Dean Sutherland(....In 1998 Dean was 2nd by a couple tenths with it at the Wakefield Nationals in BSH)...........still race it and my favorite hydro by far!............Got to know John and Ross Webster at the Waterford races along with Brian Rossman...........Was always cool to see Mr. Webster tinker with the Carter carb on his 20H.............He would come over to my pit, look at some of my A-MOD 20H creations and just say "hmmmmmmmmm" and ask a few questions and grin.

Would see him watch Rossman drive his 12CE rig and could tell John was anticipate'n Brian's every move.

Was truly a privilege to have known Mr.Webster..............Ehhhh?
