B10L - has got it right. Julie Seaman won three Nationals in DePue in 1967 and 1969 and 1970 and Betty Douglass won her DePue National in 1968

      Question 5

Versitility is what I would call what these guys had. Can you name the 3 drivers that have won at least one DePue National in each of these classes A or 250h , B or 350h , C or 500h , D or 700h and F or 1100h ? You must get all 3

        Back to trivia

When was the last time the Nationals were canceled due to low water or high water or anything else?

Lake DePue hosted the APBA Nationals from 1965 -1974. After 1974 they left DePue due to low water levels in the lake. It was dredged out in the early 1980's and racing returned in 1983 with a couple Title series races and the PRO Nationals returned in 1985 and have been held there every since. In 1980 they were scheduled for LaCross WI but were moved to Achworth Ga but I am not sure of the reason. I am sure Bruce or Bill Van will know why.

I have updated the question Paulie. It may have been a bit vague.

The water was just way too rough. I'm not sure how many heats were run I know at least one elimination heat of C (500cc) Hydro. Dan Kirts ran first, I ran second and Barry Wilson third. It was awful. I think they were moved to Baldy's place in Texas, I'm not sure as I did not go.

Tom has the correct answer. There is only one other guy that has 4 of the 5 and that is Brandon Thirlby , all he lacks to join the exclusive club is a 350h win.

                                Question 6

At the 1968 Outboard Nationals a special UIM race , John Ward Trophy race was held in conjunction with the Nationals. The race was in memory on John Ward who was the first secretary of the UIM. The trophy was created in 1925 to perpetuate his memory. 30 boats held qualifications races to get the field down to 10. The question is , Can you name the top 5 finishers , in order , in the race ?
