NBRA has a class for youth and those who are just starting to learn to drive a race boat. The class is the Novice Class. You can compete in either a runabout or a hydroplane and you must be 10years old. Motors approved for the class are Y80,102,202,302 with novice restristor plate. 15hp motors such as the mercury AX motor and the A omc with the AX resistor. Other motors that are exceptable are listed in the NBRA web site under rules. There are no weights and you can run any prop. All safety rules are in play, etc. We feel this is a great training class for youth who want to compete in boat racing. Our next race is McAlester Oklahoma on June 23-24. Membership in NBRA is $80, membership in OBRA is 35 and the entry fee is 25 per day to race. Those interested in the Kid's Class contact Doc Miller 19187911733

For those in APBA, you should look at this class which has a better chance of being popular than the new stock class with unfinished lower units. The amount of people avaiable to the Novice class is much greater. The cost is very small when you consider the cost of the J, AX classes....the cost of motors, boats are very semilar, but as you use restrictor plates, each more up on the speed scale cost you nothing, or maybe 25 dollars...I have first hand knowlege, as I put Braxton Miller through both systems.
