  • Event Costs

this may be a taboo question, but it needs to be asked. Does the stock and mod part of APBA subsidize the insurance and other costs that APBA incurrs from inboards, tunnels, drags, and other more dangerous divisions ? We are struggling to maintain adequate club funds to pay for our Crystal Lake race. I know this is common to all clubs. The question lingers longer in my mind when I keep thinking about the far more economical costs apparently typical of NBRA events which do not include those higher risk classes. Bottom line is APBA insurance and membership costs are too high.

    Good Question

I dont think you will ever get an answer. I was told last weekend at Hinton that the new insurance company rep visited a stock/ mod race a few weeks ago . They wanted to know where the crane was and where the re-fuling truck was . Aparently there has been little comunication between APBA and the insurance folks, on what we do and how we do it. Anyone care to respond???

My first question would be "Are inboards, Tunnels, Drags, Etc. more dangerous than stock and mod?"
I wonder how many claims per event are filed (and paid) for each of the divisions. -That likely influences how the insurance co. calculates the pricing.

All categories insurance rates with APBA are weighted on risk http://www.apba-racing.com/sites/all...ranceRates.pdf

APBA has a $5,000,000 Limit of Liability vs $2m for NBRA. I don't know NBRA's complete policy, but APBA's summary is right here...http://www.apba-racing.com/sites/all/files/documents/final%20printed%20insurance%20summary.pdf

                NBRA Insurance

                Hunter,

You can find a summary of the NBRA's insurance policy on the very public NBRA website. It is out in the open for all to see, no secrets here. It was also published in the last Full Throttle Magazine that was mailed to all members, and is also available online in a PDF format, from the NBRA website. I believe the answers you seek are on the NBRA website. Even non members and APBA mgmt can see it. The rules are in plain site, and leave little for interpretation. It is also available for free online.

Last weekend there was a full field of 850CCMH's..... we call it Super E Hydro, or SEH. I have yet to be to an NBRA race where the field was light in numbers.

If you are interested in becoming an NBRA affilaited club, that information is also available on the website. Costs as well. NBRA uses K&K Insurance, the same company APBA used up to this year.
