about to mix the epoxy and start spreading it.

Jerry Davis builds a heck of a boat. The bottom is **** near flat as it is. I'm gonna put a light coat on and flat block it. should be good to go.

I used a west system epoxy as recommended by someone here. I plan on sanding the rest of the bottom lightly and coating it with epoxy as well. The tops will be paint, as it is now.

I have tried many different marine varnishes over the years all with good results: Pettit Captains, Epifanes, Valspar, Glidden, Interlux. For the use these race boats get and then sit in a garage or trailer the outdoor exposure weather is not an issue so I have lately been using Minwax Helmsman Spar Urathane Gloss and the results are very good with high gloss and easy to use if properly thinned for temps. Available at many stores like Wal Mart, Home Depot.

With epoxy West is a good choice but high cost. I have used it and others like: MAS, Bondo Marine Epoxy, Epoxy Plus from Clark Craft, and one I can't recall when a research engineer at an Oceanographic Company and all had good results but with different costs. There are many out there.
