  • Bob Thorton's Lobster Boat

    hi all,

well i found the picture of bob thorton's lobster boat. in 1972 the prop riding outboarders of the potomac(prop) had a boat show in the columbia mall in maryland to promote our upcoming race at essex. this was one of the pictures that was taken from the second level of the mall. it gives a good view of the lobster drsign. i will try to scan the paicture again later and get a closer view.

    AHoooooooooooooga......

Wonder if Bob wiped the Castol Oil off it before he put it on display!!...

Bob set the standaed for 'machine work' in Outboard Racing. He could make anything out of metal. Nobody did it like ole Bob.

He 'created' and fabricated all my thrust brackets and clamps for my 45 degree Yale Boats that even had Edgar Rose scratching his head trying to figure out how to disqualify the creation. Finally Edgar had to take his hat off to Bob and ruled everything was all good!

    Bob was a real character..........

      rock lobster

      matt,

that was the cleanest the lobster boat ever was. the white paint was white!
you are right bob could make anything out of metal. the col ting about the lobster boat was that the pickle fork design was waaaay before it's time. i'm sure sam cullis or someone else on here can chime in as the the year it was built.

If i remember correctly that boat was at shannon and craigs shop when i first started hanging out. It was leaning against the back wall for years, Maybe craig remembers more on what happened to it.
