is there going to be a race in wells ny this year. I thought it was on the schedule for june 2nd.

The race was on the schedule but has been cancelled due to a number of factors. that is my understanding.

What a disaster!!! That was such a good race last year. Easy to get to. Friendly people. Outstanding spectator viewing. And, a challenging course. Most of the hoodlums from NY and NJ showed up which made for a good time at the local eatery and motel parking lot party. But..., for a Divisionals... there just wasn't a strong turnout... meaning due to the high cost of putting on the race, it probably served to insure its demise for this year.

Let's face it. The population is really spread out in the Northeast neck of the woods so finding 'sponsors' for any given event is pretty far-fetched. Not that it isn't tough everywhere else. That simple fact means that the cost of putting on a race has to be recovered thru entry-fees. Given the limited number of entries due to any number of reasons, the cost of putting on an APBA race becomes prohibitive.

Just sayin... as the expression goes.
