If the race doesn't happen today, you will need something to do. So take the time to tell us the story. I am sure it will be a good one and since we can't watch the live stream, the rest of us will have something fun to read!

ok, Dave...no teasers....if the wind is blowing, we demand some entertainment....tell us what happened to the rental....

                    Car

Well..we did get to fun today....it actually turned out to be an awesome day of racing.....but....of course there is the "rental car story" always associated we me. I got into Vegas late thursday, and went to the rental car counter. (Payless car rental) and asked what kind of car they hard for me. The said it was an economy model....I said...na, whats next up on the food chain? They ended up giving me an almost brand new 2012 Mustang convertible...a very nice car indeed. (It WAS nice car before I got it) So...I get up bright and early Friday morning...and the wind was howling outside.....and the farther away you got from Vegas the worse it was. I am on south 95 headed up to Railroad pass, doing around 70...and the passenger side window was getting pushed inside the top of the car from the wind gusts. So, being the responsible person I am, I decided to crack the window open just a little to relieve the pressure on it. BIG MISTAKE. For whatever reason, a gust of wind hit the side of the car and caught the convertible top and ripped it off the front of the car and layed it back over the trunk. Needless to say..I went...gosh, this is not right. I of course pulled over and attemted to get the top back where it sort of looked like it belonged on the car....but no luck. Two ****ing ****ing ****ing hours later the tow truck guy shows up, and says he cant tow the car with the top mangled like it was...so we got the thing where it was sorta back over it's little home in front of the trunk and I drove it back to the rental place......where they proceeded to say they are not giving me another car and that I would be getting a bill in the mail. I think they were very wise not to give me another car....I have no idea why. I do have a pic of this thing with the top all mangled...but I need to send it to somebody so they can post it. I have decided that when I get home I am selling all my stuff, quiting my job, and staying in my room alone for the next 20 years, only leaving to use the can and to make food. Goodby everybody.

                      Desert Dave

Dave, how about the time you and Tom Pearson "encountered" the cayote while driving a Corvette around Indio? Is "Rent A Wreck" still in business?

                        Coyote

Yes..well...Tom and I were in my rental car, which was a Trans Am (how foolish are these rental car people)....we were headed back from the pits in Indio along PGA West golf course...and of course we had a few cocktails in us...and Tom goes...come on, step on it....and I did. We were going the south side of 100 when a coyote runs in front of us...and WHAM...i run it over. By the time we got stopped...(maybe 1/4 mile down the road) We were both laughing so hard we dropped our cocktails. Then..we heard this thump thump thump coming from underneath the car....I said to to Tom...."you get out and check" Tom said to me...up yours...YOU get out and check...well...I did....and as soon as I opened the door the Coyote extracted itself from underneath the car and ran off into the night. Of course, the air dam in front of the car was destroyed, and for whatever reason the thing would not steer straight after that....sigh..those were the days....
