Best looking stream I have seen in a while, outstanding audio and crystal clear video.

For those interested he using a Canon AH1 and is not streaming via wifi. They are using a hard wired internet connection

          Good to watch

Watching it now...interesting to me that with better cameras and an ethernet cable internet comnnection (athough I did catch some patter about going from 4G to 3G, which seems to indicate wifi???), the flow of the video isn't really that much better for me than the SO Winternationals last week.

And I do not mean that as a slam to Surfrat.tv AT ALL.... I'm just saying that the enhancements that they are doing seems to have little or no impact on what I see on my screen....

Which just shows me that technologically, we still have a long way to go with streaming video user experience. Still, it's better than nothing.

Thanks to GP West and Surfrat.tv for their efforts!

I'm glad you had a chance to check it out, also know that the most expensive HD camera packaged together with the strongest ethernet connection is not the answer to better live streaming when it comes to fast moving objects.

Did you notice that the stream today was spectacular when they were holding still and shooting pit footage and ramp footage. The very minute racing started and boats started to move the quality started to deteriorate.

The deterioration in quality is not a reflection of Surf Rat TV poor connection speeds etc. its a fact of life when it comes to live streaming fast moving objects.

Hats off to Surf Rat they did a great job, all bets are off when those boats start to move and get up to speed.

              * You could livestream pit actin using a cell phone with a 3G connection and stream fantastic quality video. Fast moving objects is where it all falls apart regardless of cell phone or $3,000 HD high end production camera.
