  • Stock Classics to run in Grass Lake Nationals 2012

Have an older KG4, KG7, KG9, 20hp or other "vintage" racing equipment in the barn or garage? Get ready to dust it off, and run a marathon the week before Top O in beautiful Grass Lake Michigan. MHRA is kicking the idea of throwing a special classic only race during the Nationals, so iif this interest you, please let me know ASAP. more details to come. And if your a hydro driver with the older motors, let me know...you know the slogan..Everyone will have a place to race!

How long a course are you planning on running? Are you thinking of a Classic hydro race as well? We are looking at running a Classic hydro race in Gravenhurst Ontario this summer--looking at possible interest for Toronto Outboard Racing Club.

I could bring one of my KG-4's if your running a hydro class at Grass Lake.

I'll be there with my 20H on the Rinker, and I'll bring the Racecraft for Duggan's KG-4H. We can run either a short course or mini-marathon but the KG-4H is limited to green-tank fuel only.....too hard to add pump for auxilliary marathon tank. Mike Raceboat61-S

            Stock classics

For the runabouts, we will most likely do a short course marathon for 20 minutes, all classes running, and not sure about the hydros, but if you have one please plan on brining it.

I just got involved with stock outboard and run 20 SSH, and this is also allowed my dad to get his switzerbaby bullet and kg7 out for a few events here in the Midwest. I know there are more of them hidden in barns, and now we need to start getting them out again.

Will keep you all in the loop, and thanks for the emails. Kept them coming!

PS, anyone have a quickie lower for one of my two restored kg4 powerheads? Always looking!

                Classic 25SS?

Would I be able to run 25SSR like at Top 'O last year! I might have my old Becherini hydro ready by then, too.

                  What to bring

As long as you can pass the APBA safety inspection on the equipment or have a valid 2013 safety sticker, we will find a place for you to run it!
For the hydros, we might look at time laps or GPS speed based on what's coming in.
I have to start looking at the insurance regulations for all this fun to insure we are covered, so will keep you all updated.

Wagner, if you got it, and it runs, and you can pass safety, bring it! We will get you on the water for a few laps!

                        Isn't a 55H still a legal D motor?

Funny, by these rules, if we run the Y80 or y102 on the ol' 305R that I currently competitively run in 20ssh/CSH, we would almost be considered a Classic (motors makes the cut, but the boat needs just two more years!). If I show up to the Classic inspection soon with that set up, make sure you swear at me and send me in the other direction.
