  • What are Your Plans??

It looks like the forces that be are going to get $5.00 a gallon for gas this summer. Will this cut into you racing for the year??

Our family could see this coming but have decided that we will save a little harder and will not let this ruin our Summer..We will still go to Centrailia IL and do the races we had already planned and two horse shows..

I do know that my boats will have to go up in price to cover material shipping since we know that will go up also..

We hope this will not hurt racing anymore than the tail spin it already is in..

Yeh in CT we are at 4.00 - 4.15 for the cheap stuff. But I think the main core of drivers will still attend there yearly races. Lets hope it doesnt hit 5 though

        Plans

Well, it will make tow money all that more important. If it hits $5.00 a gallon, I am betting the racing will slow down a bit. Might have to pick and choose a few races that are longer hauls. But the tow money sure helps the budget on fuel. I still plan on MT, and a few other long hauls, as I know they have tow money. The Montana race is a cool deal, I am flying in, Mom & Dad driving the boat there and then doing some sight seeing on the way home through Yellowstone, etc. Sure wish I had a couple weeks to do that too. I know of a couple boat trailers doing that. We could take over Yellowstone !! LOL !!

For the NBRA, I hope everyone works real hard at securing as much in tow money as possible from sponsors. I think it will be the difference between a good turn out and a great turn out. Lets work smarter, not harder.

          40 years of running

I seen the writing on the wall this winter, higher gas prices, higher association fees, nearly every serie race and nationals a day or two long trip, little or no pit help, old age and not having a lot of fun. Time to move on, I'll miss the good times and friends.

I plan to race 4 races this year. It could be six if the gas does not hit $5.00. I will just be traveling up and down the I5 corridor. The trip to California is defiantly off. there is always next year.

A little up in the air (so to speak)

I made the decision that Moby Grape Racing (with or without my favorite driver) will be making it to most if not all of the local races. I am currently interviewing back-up drivers for the races Mike can't make it to. I was explaining to Mike last night as we were building a new hydro that on a race weekend Sunday night I feel like I worked pretty hard all weekend, but I also feel totally refreshed. Hard to explain but I bet most of you know what I mean. I realize when I get home that I spent 48 hours not thinking about work, the house, all the other crap that clutters my life, and just plain have fun doing something I love.
