  • promotional info help?

are there any clubs who might have a suggestion or an example of something to give to the general public that might attract new racers?

CORA (home of the best digital clock in the country) has a racer who manages a NAPA store. he has asked a few of us to join himself and bring a few boats to the store for a parking lot tool event.

i would like to have some sort of flyer or something with pictures and information about stock outboard racing that we could give away. any help or suggestions would be great. thanks

    stock outboard promotional video

Paul Nielander sent me a nice promotional DVD. I put a copy of it on youtube, http://youtu.be/jTqZ4b6-5vE

If you think it'd be useful for your event, then I could send you a DVD.

      There are materials!

      Bill,

APBA has promotional flyers and pamphlets available that promote the J classes and I believe some of the other categories. I saw them in Chicago last week.

I'd suggest calling the office in Eastpointe and see what they can come up with for you.

Be sure to take flyers with CORA's race schedule on them. When are you doing this? Would we have time to get some hydroracer stickers to you? I don't think we have any shirts left.

See if you can get some stickers from APBA or any other organizations that support boat racing. You are right that there is nothing like "free stuff" to help people to think about what they saw last week, last month than stuff that they see again and again.

A boat show with a follow up New Folks in Boats class is a great way to introduce people to the sport.

If you need something made up that I can help with let me know. Raymond here on hydroracer might be another great source for ideas he has made several posts on the subject of marketing and promotion.

patrick, thanks for the home office info. going to call tomorrow.

teresa, anything you guys have would be super cool. going to ask apba when i call them if they have any free stuff we could give away. i'll call you and mike about that pm in a day or two. that might fit into a bigger plan i've been thinking about the last couple days. could involve a couple road trips and some sawdust. are you afraid yet? thanks so much

Lots of sawdust in my barn and a spare bedroom in the house! You are always welcome here. Seriously I think I know what your bigger plan is, sounds kind of cool give Mike (and I) a call

I have never put anything like this on myself but here is my contribution to a brainstorming session:

It could (should?) look something like a boat show display?

Put some fully rigged boats minus prop on display.

If you have an old boat your not worried about maybe you could rig it with a wheel and throttle and set it in the grass for ‘beach race’ demos. Encourage the public to ‘get-in-and-play’.

Run the Dana Holt / Paul Neilander SO Promo video in loop mode on a large monitor. If it’s too bright outside, put it inside the store. Point them to the Stock Outboard TV You-tube channel. On that note, point them to the MichiganHydroplaneTV You-Tube channel also as we are developing a string of exciting, entertaining and educational kneel down racing content.

Somehow communicate all the different places that information can be found on line.

Got any boat racing picture/scrap books you could lay around that people could thumb through?

Does your club produce a Program Magazine like MHRA does that outlines the sport, classes and showcases sponsors.

Does your club have any banners?

I know your looking for that handout kind of literature: Yea…I would like to see some of that also. I wish we could find a graphic artist member that would donate some time to create a few different looks that various clubs could easily tailor.

Got any club business cards to hand out? If not pass out your contact info somehow. Don’t just post it; put it in prospects hands/pockets/wallets. Magnetic club logos?

Raffle off a free seat or two in your local clubs racer school.

Display your clubs full season schedule to include off season meetings and awards banquet. If you have a neighbor/sister club in the area post their schedule also to covey all the water time opportunities.

              I hope this helps.
              Raymond
