  • "Stinkstones" Where to buy them?

I've heard people talk about flattening the wet parts with a stink stone. Did a little search and found little relevant. Anybody have a source ?
    Thanks, Larry

    Pittsburgh Corning Corporation Foamglas

I buy it here in Saint Louis at a company called Insulation Sales.

      Stink stones

Darrell Sorenson used to sell them as well. His user name here is CSR4C. He is on here frequently he might still have them.

            stink stone

It is foamed glass, handling it makes you think this stuff must have come from a volcano.
The core use or purpose of the stuff is a specialized high temperature insulation. Sort of the poor cousin of the space shuttle tiles.
The gas in the pores is rich in SO2 so when you cut it or wear it down using it as an abrasive, it smells like rotting eggs.
If you have local access to an INDUSTRIAL insulation supplier, they will probably have it.
Its secondary use as an abrasive is pretty well know so you can get it from other sources like listed here above.

I have been using them since 1964 (48 years, wow!) and always dry.
