Question: JSH, ASX, ASH, KPH

My granddaughter will be starting in K-Pro next year with an OMC and I have a few questions about the 4 similar classes.

1. What is the typical race course speed of a J Stock Hydro? An ASX? An ASH, A KPH?
2. Two propellers were included with the deal. Should I only consider these K-Pro propellers or are they in the ballpark for the other classes as well. If not, what is the difference?
3. I would like to have here go to a drivers school, is there a list of schools this summer? She can bring her own boat and motor as a J Stock Hydro.
4. Where do I purchase a J-Stock restrictor?

J stock is good for about 40 mph, ASX good for about 50, and K Pro and A have a similar top end of just under 60. when i ran these classes it was with one boat, motor, and propeller. we just changed weight and restrictor plates accordingly. alot of racing for a little investment. im likin the racecraft. a good stable boat. she should have a blast. good luck

Driving school

Hi Tim,

Marine Racing Club of Illinois is working on 2 driving schools for 2012. One will be in Rochelle, IL late June or early July and the other we are going to try to have at Pell Lake, WI in early June. We will post the dates once we have them, hopefully shortly after the APBA annual meeting.

Speeds.
A good JH will run 40-41 mph, a good AXH will run about 52-53 mph and a good ASH 56-57 mph. Not familiar with KPH speeds.

Keep in mind that JH, AXH, and ASH have minimum weights as she looks pretty light. JH weight is 300 lbs , AXH is 325 , ASH is 345 lbs.

Also, JH and JR use APBA supplied propellers that will be available at our driving schools.

Tim/ Bob the older Restrictors may not be legal. Have an inspector look at them. The legal ones are made by Ed Runne on a CNC and sold by APBA. $15.00

J restrictors

The new legal ones are made from aluminum and have "APBA" and the size engraved on them. The older ones were stainless I think and were blank.
