,,,,, food for thought,,, i would luv to see the rules changed to have 3 heats in the finals at nats,,, as pro and others already do,,, we all travel along way for this and if something unforseen happens its over,,,,, with 3 heats maybe we all could have a beter chance of winning ,,, all comments welcome maybe we should be thinking this way for the future???...

Nationals
What happens at the PRO Nationals.... there are two elimination heats that are randomly drawn. Everyone races in these two heats. Then, the top 12 in points are run in the final heat. ALL THREE HEAT POINTS ( 2 elimination heats and one final) are added together for the overall results. I have been through this many times. The drawback are the "stacked" heats vs. the "easy" heats. Sometimes you race against some of the same people in both of your elimination heats, and sometimes you miss people in both of these heats- my philosophy was that you had to consistantly beat everyone in order to win the Nationals. I will say that the random picks of the elimination heats DOES effect the standings.
It has been almost 30 years since I raced at a Stock Nationals, so I don't know what they do. I remember the dissappointment of finishing 2nd in my elimination race in BSR.... and not qualifying for the finals! (Dayton, OH 1974).

Get in contact with your commissioner and try to write up a rule change to adopt for the national meeting. I've heard people mention this line of thought before and often times it is looked down upon mainly because of the extra time it will take at the nationals. If you are running a combined Nationals it does add 30-40 heats.
People already complain about a long week so good luck trying to convince them. I'm down for having 4 heats for the finals and throw out your worst heat, like they do at the World Championship events. What ever lets people race more, but still able to complete in a 4-5 day event. Good luck and I would be in support, but you are also going against years and years of tradition...

more heats ?
...I was broke into FEH by Ken Rosado and have been at it long enough to have crossed paths with most of the hard chargers in the class.I think most of em would admit if you are wrestling one of these rigs hard enough to be in contention, a two heat final is about all a guy can take. Three laps in one of these things is a workout, unless you get off the throttle in the turns...the motors are so torquey they do not want to straighten out. And,it sure ain't a case of me not being strong enough.

3- heaters
i would be for that. at least have a opportunity to vote on a change. nothing says would have to be run back to back[ pro's have some spacing due to there format of classes being run] back to back would be a safety issue with us older guy's,sometimes the first heat gets away from us. put together a good written proposal and lets see where it goes. i agree with the travel along ways to be taken out of contention.
