Supplier of Buoys???

We need to increase our club inventory of buoys and was wonder where to get and who has the most reasonable price on buoys..

I am especially interested in the ones I always see in the pictures that look like bright yellow garbage sacks.. They especially look good draped over the boat that has just had the driving infraction!

Get ahold of Ken Kaiser 39 R. He has had experience with trying to get the bags of the proper mil thickness. BTW my daughter owns one. Got it at Cullaby. Only cost her $25.

Are they actually trash bags? I did google some and found 39 and 50 gallon ones in 2.0 mil thickness.

Try Less Schwab tire co. They are used for dirty tire covers when they put used tires into your car Fill them with balloons. Work Great and cheep.

yep - trash bags, but I think the ones we use in Region 4 are 4 mil or maybe 6 mil. They're fairly tough. Bright yellow. Have folks save sturdy plastic jugs with a handle to tie line on for a float. Bright orange Tide laundry detergent jugs are great. For anchors I suspended a galvanized eyebolt w/washer & nut in a big Folgers coffee jug and filled it with Sakrete. For blue Maxwell House jugs just fill with Sakrete - they have a handle to tie a line on.

We just use a fairly sturdy bright yellow bag, stick a beach ball in it and zip-tie it shut.

Use the anchors you are using now and milk jugs/smaller bouys to set course. Then use a shop vac, in the "blower" position to fill the trash backs/bouys and tie them off to the milk jogs. Done deal

We have found that using trash bags filled with beach balls is a real pain when someone wipes out the buoy as the race course will have a bunch of the beach balls floating in the course. Now you will have a longer down time between heats retrieving the beach balls. Believe me been there done that!!!
For the Oroville Nationals I was determined to do better and I found buoys on E-Bay. So I bought a few. Then I called the company www.meetssupplies.com 302-524-4033. He gave me a real good deal on the 40inch buoy. Then I found the bounce ball at www.sportsmansguide.com in orange and yellow about $11.00 ea.
Meetsupplies also has a inflate/deflate pump for about $40.00 that will fill the 40 in buoy in about 2 minutes. to deflate just unscrew the large valve and down it goes in less than a minute. SURE beats the Shop Vac!!!

Just remember that trash bags need something inside that floats. Beach balls from Toy's Our Us that fill a trash bag will cost money. So you need to add that cost.
We store our buoys in rubber maid or similar containers. Just don't through them into the equipment trailer after they deflated.

Beach balls

We use Wally World beach balls at $0.89 each. 2 in each bag works well. Use milk jugs filled with cement with an eye bolt in them .( Cast them $ at a time in a milk crate) and you have anchors that dont pinch you or scratch up the patrol boat.We use boat fenders for a float . and tie stap the bag on.

These are all great ideas..Are there rules as to which color is to be used for the coarse and what color for out of bounds.

those are real good. That is what we use. The 40in meetsupplies are for the lead in buoy for the first pin and second pin.
