What did I Buy

I've got to start somewhere. I purchased 2 hydro's one 8 footer the other 10. Can anyone tell me anything about the hydo's as well as the motor. I've been to a couple of races over the years - this opportunity came up so I did it. What class would I be in? I weigh 200 and my Son about 175. I'll probably sign up for one of those safety training venues. I'm from the Detroit area. What Region is that? My next purchase will probably be another motor as well as a trailer. The guy I purchase these from stated he purchased them about 1998 used - thought he would get into it but never did. Thanks

It looks like an A mod hydro, now known as 250MH. The motor I think is an older 15 hot rod and the number with the M identifies it as last registered from Michigan. I would ask Cooper Jess, champhotrod on this site about it. He would likely be able to answer your questions about the rig and help advise you going forward. He may even know who the original owner was.

What did I Buy, Chapter 2

To: Cooper, Johnsonm50, Modracer & Mark, Thanks so much for the responses. This site is so professional & in reading as many threads as possible I'm trying to absorb what I can. I just knew some would come forward with input.
The guy I purchased it from still has the Boats & Motor until I can find a place to store them. He has the carburator off and in pieces in search of new needles. Can those really go bad? Once he shows me it runs I'll complete the purchase. So far he has 66% of my money. I'll definately want someone to go thru the motor once in my possession and do all the due diligence necessary to make it all it can be as well as reliable.
So as I understand it so far I have an:
OMC 15 Hot Rod Lower unit, also currently referred to as 250 Mod.
Class A and or B
What are comparable Motors?
I am assuming nothing about this motor is stock.
