Help Identifying My Boat

I just picked this up today. I have been told it is a B-H ( possibly a Mod25 boat ) but not really sure. If anyone can tell me any history of the boat or help to confirm the builder and/or what class it is designed for I would greatly appreciate it. As far back as I can trace its history is that it was owned by Will Hawkins here in Ft.Worth, TX up until about two years ago.

Dennis I do not run the smaller classes but I do beleive that boat is a Hemp Hydro. I may be wrong but that boat sure looks like a smaller version of a D Hydro that I had that was built by Sam Hemp.

Its an older B&H.I ran one like it in the early 90's.Best boat i ever drove.I ran C with mine.By the measurments of yours it looks like a 25 or 20ss boat.Great boat!

Mr. Dennis, I remember Jessica Hawkins racing a Y80 for quite a while. As well as the owners before the Hawkins. I wouldn't run anything bigger than an 80 or maybe a 102/202/302 on it. I've never witnessed the rig run anything bigger than the 80 on it.

And its forsure a B&H hydro.

I'm pretty sure that boat was built for a 25xs.

With a 34 inche bottom and your weight, you will have trouble getting much lift from this rig. If you ran a 25mod, omc or merc, which are lighter motors, you would be better shape. Get a driver that weights 150lb and you would get it to lift...

Thanks to all of you who have been kind enough to respond to my inquiry. It looks like I have a B&H designed for 25xs or maybe 20ssh.

You all have confirmed my suspicions that at just over 200 lbs I am a bit too heavy for a boat this size. My reason for getting the boat is to refinish it as a father-son project. We have already stripped the hardware and are in the sanding phase. Once I have it refinished I'll post it back here on HR and see if anyone is interested in it or maybe even swapping it for a little bigger boat that will work for me.

Well....those pics were before I started sanding. It looks nice and dusty now!

I have already found this process to be a bit therapeutic. The gentle hum of the sander, the smell of sawdust in the air, neighbors stopping by to ask about this really cool looking boat in my garage. Nice way to relieve the stress of the day.

Here is an email I received from Pat Clayton about this boat. This would explain the lettering on the cockpit sides. It is neat to know that this boat has special meaning to a family at one time. Thanks Pat!

... I think that the boat you have is the one that was driven by Earl Mitchell's grandson after Earl died. I am not sure of the year but the kid did not like to race but did drive it a few times. I saw Earls wife in Huntsville a year or so ago. Earl drove for Ralph Murphy and C. Phelphs.
