Gents, It's ON !
Per discussions on same subject a few weeks ago, we are setting the date for the 1st Annual Stock/Mod Outboard Racing Swap Meet for 2-3 April at the Zanesville, Ohio Airport in Hangar # 5.
Hopefully, this date will be early enough to allow new racers an opportunity to view/buy your new or used equipment for use during this upcoming race season. I will be sending out invitations to as many of the boatbuilders, safety equipment/engine/accessory/hardware providers and racing clubs as I have addresses for. Thanks to HydroRacer.net for the bandwidth !
Big Picture: To attract new racers to our sport by providing an opportunity to meet racers and view racing items and complete rigs that are for sale. Provide heated, well-lighted, all-weather, lockable/secure facility where (for almost FREE) we can meet to sell/swap our outboard racing rigs and equipment. This hangar is brand new. It is 140' X 140' and offers approximately 50 spaces, 15' X 20' per vendor. Racing clubs will be given a free 'space' to promote their clubs activities, sell club promotion items, and provide a meeting place for their members. Individuals, groups/teams, and manufacturers/suppliers will be charged $25 for a single 15' X 20' display area for the entire 2-day meet. This is a not-for-profit effort, the hangar is provided by Zanesville Aviation and the Zanesville Airport. If receipts exceed expenses, we'll give it back to the clubs that participate.
What I need from racing clubs and HydroRacer members/guests is your support and participation. Everyone knows at least one prospective racer. Bring HIM/HER !! Event is open to the public.
Location/ammenities: Zanesville Airport is located about 60 miles East of Columbus and 80 miles West of Pittsburgh just off I-70. Motels, fast food, gas are one mile away at Exit #160 on I-70. Standard stuff like Holiday Inn, Red Roof Inn, McDonalds, Wendy's, Denny's, etc. City of Zanesville is 5 miles west and has more of everything else.
Things I'd like to see: Boatbuilders bring at least one of your new/used boats for display and sale. Engine builders.....the same. Full lines of available new/used safety equipment, boat hardware, etc. Racing teams bring entire, race ready used rigs for sale. Your unbridled enthusiasm for racing and mentoring new racers.
Things I Don't want to see: Flea market crap ! If it isn't something you use and carry on your trailer or motorbox for racing, don't try to sell it at our Outboard Racing Swap Meet. Don't call the Zanesville Airport.
