It's been stated that the Tohatsu was right there at Nationals. That would be the Last couple if I'm not mistaken. HEIGHT ISSUE--SAFETY-- DO NOT AGREE!!!! I ran D-stock at wakefield and many other over last few years and 44XS setups very a great deal,0-3/4". YES---Wakefield to!! In the past when height and safety was brought up the end result was to GO DOWN!!
As brought up before it appears the XS gear case will run at different heights and the Tohatsu has a problem. FIX GEAR CASE!!! LEAVE CLASS AS IS!
Larry, the new Bass gearcase has been reworked to "help" the problem, but as you say, the 44XS setups vary from 0-3/4" and they have a CHOICE where they want to run the prop shaft, not the same on the other end of the spectrum...........no matter, I ain't scared of the Mercs........

      Bass gearcase

Thread has morphed into something else then I intended...but that's ok...I have not had the handling problems other people have reported...I had the leading and trailing edge of the skeg worked on.....seemed to have really helped. However, that being said, I will be getting a new gearcase from Sid. And some new props. David

no worries Dave, most threads get all off the main topic anyways........and I overcame the handling problems myself with the Bass unit, now on to making it faster.....at 1/2"

I'm sending Daren a couple of gift certificates. One is to Sally's Salad Bar in Spanaway, the other is to Regina's Fitness Saloon in Tacoma. Both Sally and Regina are known (down in Fontana CA) for their "documentary" film adventures (xxx) working the meat off yer bones. Experts in their field have noted that creampies are not necessarily calorific. In fact they ..."whoever 'they' are" have found such to be a definite weight reduction factor.

The other thing we must keep in mind is NBRA weight is below 480 for DH.. so let's not fatten things up folks, lest we be un competitive when we decide to run an in an ethanol regatta.

          Alex

PS: NBRA has no height restriction.

Well if you wanna change the weight, let's put height restrictions the same for tohatsu and mercs. While we are at it let's let the tohatsu run in the 750cc mod class. Leave the weights alone.

                    DSH height

Ok....let's get some dialog going on the Tohatsu height....I feel it should be the same as the Merc 44XS....other drivers? And make sure you folks start sending Sheri's and Denny's gift certificates to Darren....both those places have fantastic deserts.....David.

                        Even playing field

Not sure what you mean Peter....the majority of the Merc guys I know think the Tohatsu should be raised up to 0.....but even then on a big course the Merc is going to be faster in my opinion. Dave
