LMAO.....not trying to hide anything....I would also like to see the weight bumped up a little, but it will not kill me if the weight stays the same. And Darren, any time I get in a bad mood I think of me trying to sneak up the inside of u at Eatonville before the start and you SLAMMING the door on me, forcing water up behind my eyeballs.....it just makes my mood worse! Lol......

keep the weights the same. for sure allow the tohatsu to run the same height as the 44. it's a safety thing.... i think the tohatsu guys have got the game figured out now. i remember a tohatsu at wakefield this year that could have won it all had he been paying attention to where he was racing.

dave, the real push should be to allow the tohatsu as a legal DMH motor.

Thanx for people's opinions.....from what I see here and in pvt messages most people want the weight to stay the same....I will not bring up a change at national meeting. As far as Wakefield goes....I don't know if I had the fastest rig or not...but I sure did not do that great a job of driving...trust me, I think about it all the time. And I think it is very short sighted of the mod comm. to keep the Tohatsu out of DMH..we presented all the facts from Oroville 2010 nationals....a good running DMH should have NO problem beating a decent D Tohatsu. I am going to have my mod comm. bring up the issue again in Chicago....It is hurting clubs financially, as well as killing the class in region ten. I simply do not get it.....also, did not Jeff Akers from region 11 buy a Tohatsu to race in DMH? David

Thanks for the clarification and honest reply David.
Daren, sorry buddy, I cant go along with this one. Not for the reasons stated. I don't think there is an epidemic of “fragilely built” D hydros out there to justify it as an argument to raise wight.

Dave, On the subject of the Tohatsu. I bought a Tohatsu because I thought a “NEW” engine was a good Idea for the D class. I also thought that if I started racing one in D MOD in my region (11) ,which has no DSH class. That some of the guys in my region may like what they see and buy them as well. That could have not only increased the D MOD roster, it could possibly led to bringing DSH back to a region that has no D stock Class at all. All of it furthering participation for APBA ,Bass Machines and region 11.

The proposal failed....Life goes on, Live and learn.

believe me (or not), I did not request the weight change for my personal benefit, rather on the basis of the last 2yrs in Reg10 (and a couple Nationals and Divisionals) observing all the DSH's on the scales and 75% of them exceeded 500lbs easily.........

no worries, I still feel indestructable in my 580lb DSH!!!!

actually.............hoping new boat will knock me down to about 530lbs!!!!!! Cutting back on the BigMacs (not donuts Dingman, get that **** straight)......might bring me down to 520!!!!

              Dsh/dmod

Everything should be held in perspective....as far as the Tohatsu goes in D mod...like I said earlier....a few people brought in cold hard facts as to speeds of the Tohatsu vs speeds of the Mercury D mods....I had the fastest Tohatsu times at Oroville, and I think Brian Palmquist had the fastest Mercury times, at nearly 10 seconds over three laps faster then me. The mod people in my opinion, like I said, are really hurting there own cause....here you have a group of people that WANT to race with them, and they don't want us. I know it's nothing personel, and I sure as heck am not losing any sleep over it...but at the Seattle meeting Mark Webber stood up before the whole crowd and said essentially that APBA is dying, and implored the respective commisions to view every decision made in light of this fact...and yet the mod commision did just the opposite, and told us to go away. I was honestly stunned....yet I kept my big mouth shut. I would LOVE to run my rig in d mod.....but so goes it. David.

I think our Parity Committee has got this class where it should be-Very Close-
It's been stated that the Tohatsu was right there at Nationals. That would be the Last couple if I'm not mistaken. HEIGHT ISSUE--SAFETY-- DO NOT AGREE!!!! I ran D-stock at wakefield and many other over last few years and 44XS setups very a great deal,0-3/4". YES---Wakefield to!! In the past when height and safety was brought up the end result was to GO DOWN!!
As brought up before it appears the XS gear case will run at different heights and the Tohatsu has a problem. FIX GEAR CASE!!! LEAVE CLASS AS IS!

I would lay off the tahatasu issue in mod his year. It's just going to piss off their commission like last year. Dave- we were in that meeting. They have no interest in allowing that motor in at this time. I would wait a few years and when the member numbers are real dire they will probably come around. Bringing the issue uP for arguement sake will not help the cause. Just my opinion.

I agree with Kyle here........also, running the Tohatsu in 850 has allowed an increase in participation in the class in 2011 in Region10......same could be said for 750, but so be it..............let's move forward and get DSH entrys up also.......heck, I know we have atleast 10 of them in the region.......

I was not planning on making a fuss at the mod meeting in chicago.....I did not even join the catagory....I personaly don't care what they decide this year....but I do hope they take into account that membership is dwindling..and pretty soon we are all going to be one big catagory if things don't change. And Montana Mike....I do appreciate you guys wanting me to run Dmod at Electric city, but I have to watch my finances being a small business owner. It was a pretty expensive trip for me....David

Forgot something...I think we have more then ten DSH boats in the region...I will see if I can come up with a list, and maybe get on the phone and get people to get rigs out of garages for 2012.

Larry T. has an excellent point. Something needs to be changed with the gear case on the Tohatsu (ie design, shape, overall radius, bullet tapering) not necessarily the depth of the shaft.
