I have been asking D stock drivers (as a member of the stock commission) what they weigh when the come in from the end of a heat. The majority of them say anywhere from 20 lbs over to 100lbs over weight. I do know that there are a few drivers that are close in weight...but not many. I am going to propose at the national meeting that we raise the weight in DSH to at least 500lbs.....this will accomplish several things. One, it will help the heavier drivers out there by not forcing them to build boats so fragile that they disintigrate when they crash......any thoughts from other D drivers? Let me know.

are you refering to me as the 100lb over rig?????? According to DMR drivers, weight DOES NOT matter...........hahahahahhaa..............
anyways, any increase in minimum weight would sure help me a bunch............how about 520??
if we can't get the min weight increase, can we get the 1/2" height restriction pulled for us Tohatsu owners?????
whatever happens, we gotta figure out how to slow down your 90MPH DSH!!!!!!!Daren

Weights.............dsh/dsr
Dave
Maybe we should 'remove' the weights from the class the way the Modified Division did in 750ccr (DMR)...........heck the class may take off and grow like the 750ccr class did!!..........
Always good to look at models of sucess stories as a potential path to follow.......just sayin!

Class weight
One other option would be the weight of the rig without the driver. If that is done it will force the boats to be built stronger without putting the driver in the the boat. Also might want to limit the amount of lead that can be added to make weight. Seems like the weight numbers have been around for years so maybe we should rethink them for all classes. As our population of drivers get older weight becomes a big disadvantage.

DSH weight
I am not really that concerned about my weight...I am using honeycomb on new hull I am building, so it should come in quite a bit lighter then old boat...I am just asking drivers what they think. I am mostly interested in the opinions of DSH drivers, but others are welcome to chime in. If the majority of D drivers don't want to raise the weight I will not waste my time with it. David

DSH weight
I am not trying create controversy here....One of the region ten d drivers feels that the 480 weight for DSH is to low, and I am asking other people's opinions as to what they think. Montana Mike...I am somewhat offended by your statement that we commisioners have to change rules every year to justify our'e existance....it is unfair of you to say that...when the national meeting is out of town I pay my own way for the whole meeting...not one cent is given to me by either the region or APBA to cover expenses...and me being a small business owner means I do not get any paid time off....you do the math. As far as boats disintigrating...one that comes to mind is JIm Sweeny's rig last year at Oroville. There has been others...but I can't at this time give you specific examples. If D drivers do not want the weight changed I will not waste my time proposing it. Pretty simple. Dave

I am for the weight increase, but if it is felt unneeded by the class members, I guess I will have to stop eating at McDonalds every day!!!!!!
I would like the "Hearn height restriction" removed for the Tohatsu though, more than anything!!!!!!! Let's even up the competition between the Merc and Tohatsu................
and if anyone is wondering who mentioned this weight increase to Dave, it was ME!!!!!! No need to ***** out Dave about, come forward and blame me, I am a big boy, I can take the heat!!!
propose it Dave or I will keep hacking you off in the first turn (with my 580lb DSH!!!!!!
the class says......
PS: sorry Guido, this ain't DMR..............oh wait, since they do not want a min weight in DMR, guess we should put a rig together for ya...........ya think they will complain about a 370lb rig????????Daren
