  • Fly Fishing in Kenya

This is not a plea for charity.
We were fortunate enough to travel to Africa in 1999. Our guide in Kenya on that trip, Josphat Ngigi (Joe), left a lasting impression on me. Since then we have kept in touch. After 9/11 the tourist trade in East Africa was all but wipe out and “Joe” lost the primary support for his family. Joe is the primary support for his wife, children, his mother and his wife’s widowed sister and her children. Joe has been able to pick up occasional jobs driving a truck for aid agencies. In the meantime his wife, Margaret, and his sister have tried starting a business, tying flies for fishing. They are called “fish bites” in Kenya.
I guess I have become their agent in the USA. She has sent me samples of her Flies. I don’t even know what she charges. I know nothing about this “sport” but I hope I can find someone here on Hydroracer that might know and be interested.
I have attached a few images, to give some idea of what these things are. If you have any interest send me an email. Any info will be helpful.
